Using that as an analogy, having a union would be like the early days of a constitutional monarchy: the people have a much greater degree of power than before, but the king can ultimately still do whatever he damn well pleases. Not without any consequences, but not at all acting as an apolitical figurehead either.
What we need is a republic.
Lowe’s is like Europe during the dark ages; you have a king (Marvin) and his court (corporate); everyone else is a peasant who has to serve the king and his court.
This is the corporate system working as intended. The CEO is a Targaryen; replace a bad one and you're just flipping a coin to see if you have a benevolent one or a malevolent one. That's the best this whole thing is ever going to do the way it works right now because the shareholder is the only one that the CEO care about. If they do right by the worker it's merely because they feel like it.
If you want this to value workers and their wellbeing, merely getting a new CEO isn't going to cut it. You need a new system that will make us their priority.
