Your dream may come true. Henri will be forced out. Thanks for the comments.
While NetApp gave me good experience in my career as well as financial freedom, I left on my own earlier this year and haven't regretted my decision once. Leadership in PS is a complete joke and the constant drama of the teams paired with constant layoff rumors was exhausting. I've never worked at a company before where leadership and account teams thrive on pointing fingers at internal teammates instead of working towards fixing the real issues at hand to attempt to make themselves look better. PS culture is just awful all around and there is no real leadership. Majority of PS management was horribly unprofessional and unhelpful. Public Sector was the only sector of PS I had a good experience with that had (mostly) competent and hard working individuals and that I felt actually cared about the business.
Henri Richard and Ducati love, that's classic. Very creative comments from previous posters.
Honestly, Sales and PS groups have/will be impacted in Q2.
With preliminary Q1FY20 numbers being this bad, we need to sacrifice some people. It's hard for me to say this but it's the truth, someone has to pay.
Look for booked conference rooms, HR personnel walking around the facilities and managers occupied in all day or special meetings.
This is sad.
The best start on a road to recovery is getting rid of Henri as he is truly worthless coupled with zero integrity. Then get rid of the SVP sales leaders who are worthless and think they run the company, After that the worthless fund me organization led by Ron who makes up numbers he has no idea how to get to. That would put the company on a road to recovery.
Yes, Henri and team are doing that poor of a job. His HCI baby is a POS. He needs to take his Ducati love and gtfo.
He’s gone by the end of the year. “Retiring” Best of luck to the next guy to pick up his pieces.
Why are people picking on Henri Richard and Sales team?
Are they really doing a poor job or is it the macro economic situation we are in, i.e. tariff war between us and China?
I really hope Henri and his team are giving 110%
Anders is worthless. People come last. That’s why he survives in this culture.
Hardware is prioritized due to the entire goal system. Reps can’t make their goal without prioritizing it. Incentives and spifs only help to a degree, but not when they have historically been hci or aff... hardware again. OCI is the only software that brings real revenue but the non globals can’t afford it still when compared to what they actually value (not what we tell them is value). Anders has to be the next chop. He’s responsible for service business and is somehow still here. He HAS to go as well. And as someone else said, todd b too.
This is what happens when you prioritize hardware sales in a business that is increasingly software and services driven. Leadership knows this, they say it at every all hands but the execution is not there and it comes down to one person, Henri. Granted, the services org was awful too but that's what happens when you keep a "leader" like Tom S. Even after he f—ed up aop 3 years running and failed to lead any development in the services business.
None of this has to sink NetApp forever but unless leadership really turns around, it will.
There will always be layoffs in the future. Also, sales is always hiring from people quitting and the mentality to throw more bodies at something. The amount of ‘architects’ in this company is astounding as their actual skills are nowhere near architect nor halfway feasible to design a solution including NetApp technology. Super heavy in the ‘high level architect’ but don’t actually achieve anything is the new middle management bloat (which for the most part still exists).
With this latest announcement, is anyone aware of additional layoffs and in what areas? They continue to day they are failing on execution and they have said they are hiring in sales.
Schroeder truly was such a joke of a leader that destroyed PS and was a dim witted narcissistic fool. He never understood the business and k–led off any of the innovative teams within PS. Such a tool. Time to find another job before the recession hits.
It’s going to take a few lawsuits before they fully understand that the American Worker is sick of the B.S. these companies shell out to their employees. Fly by the seat of your pants layoffs are getting old. They simply need to close their doors for good. NetApp is dead because they gave up on their people. If you buy NetApp, you are a fool.
The last innovative thing Netapp did was MARS ..... and we know how that turned out.
So I quit NetApp recently and their self inflicted problems are predictable. There has grown a stalinist arrogance where middle managers seek to grow their careers by trying to be the nastiest they can be to their direct reports. That means when the people who actually make the money keep what they are thinking to themselves to avoid being shouted at, then the leadership doesn't get to find out as quick.
To improve NetApp needs all managers sacked and promote people who listen.
The layoffs that are needed should be all middle management as they don't actually earn money they just sit between leaders and revenue makers.
Ouch, stock down 17% pre-opening today, 8/2
She’s sprung a huge leak. I predict she will sink. They are no longer innovative. Better agreements with Microsoft or Amazon or better yet Dell. Yes Dell. Because they are everything IBM is not. With EMC thought leadership. Dell is the NetApp k–ler. That’s because they put people first. NetApp has not. Just a matter of time. BDG
Company is on life support. Horrible leadership. Last one out turn out the lights!
