So, does anyone think GM is still, or is ever going to be, the Workplace of Choice? I wonder if they’ll ever conduct that survey again.

It was obvious that they didn't listen to the employees when 90% of them voted against the new open floor layout, and they did it anyways. Who was that useless woman running the nonsense rollout?
Mid cycle they pulled the plug on it because finances got into the way of market reality. Market reality is that we're on the cusp of a depression - mark those words. 2001 recession, 2008 super recession, 20xx depression. Let's hope GM goes under, and Ford and FCA absorbs the market share. We need one to disappear to strengthen the others. With the GM token movement in full effect, open and obvious, last place talent should be rewarded with last place results. They fired all their talent solely to hire cheaper and undefined talent.

Both of you are spot on, Ruess is a total YES man, the pure definition.
Work for the pay and go home.
GM truck sale are saving the company though!?!? What a circus! Now layoffs in Ingersoll, it's not going to stop at GM, they,...HAVE THE WRONG MANAGEMENT! DUH! The fact Mary is still in charge is Rediculous, one investor said in October of last year that he felt it was time for her to go! He must be satisfied from all the mass firings to drive money straight into his pocket. 👍
Nobody at GM should be thinking their job is safe or thAt going the extra mile will mean a thing the next time the axe falls.
Be a mercenary. Work for the paycheck and benefits and put in only the effort that gets you paid.
Any ground that GM made around being a workplace of choice was lost in Feb. Nevermind that it was all hot air anyhow. Reuss has never been on board and it's been a dying effort in product development since day 1. Reuss just says what he needs to say in order to keep the boss happy (kind of describes his entire career, actually). Behind closed doors, he doesn't give a rip about the survey or what people think.
Based on this article (IBM layoffs) it appears to be a trend. Eliminate the aged and hire RCGs. Reeks of age discrimination. I believe the “senior” employees will always be more dedicated and loyal, it’s just how they were raised. It’s a generational thing based on right and wrong and trust. But I guess that’s not what companies want. It’s a changing world but I’m not sure it’s for the better.

At this point, who cares. They've never done anything with those results anyway. Best thing you can do is be sure you kiss up to your boss so that s/he likes you and your life will be easier.
If you work for GM or choose to accept a job at GM, you know what you are in getting. Ridiculously high compensation package but a god awful environment, poor leadership, etc.
Requires you to sell your soul, but you have to decide if that is worth it. For most, it is.
GPS was a good place to work, what a shame
