Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

FSA position just got cut about 30 min ago

I have been an FSA for six years at my store and just a half hour ago I got called into the HR office and was told that my job was eliminated as of today. Most FSA’s suspected this was coming but I didn’t think it would happen this quickly. One day you have a job and then on that same day you don’t, no lead time, no you’ve got two weeks, no severance, no nothing, just you’re gone.

My condolences to all my fellow former FSA’s who put so much effort and care into their stores only to have it all be for nothing.

I was an FSA for 7 years. Accident free, and I had not missed a single day in the last 2 years. I got the ax just like the rest of you. I was the PT FSA, so I got nothing. I was just thinking about this old job, and ended up here. For any FSA that finds this, keep in mind that during the pandemic, janitorial services charged a fortune. I have to believe everyone lost money on this deal.

outside cleaning crew is too ineffective. store is now forcing departments to take turns cleaning the store. store is already severely understaffed. so now we get to add FSA to our job descriptions! i bet within a few months outside crews will just be let go and stores will take it on full time.

let go individuals barely making anything and for what?! pathetic.

these sorts of looting practices where corporate raiders install puppets into wealthy companies only to steal from their coffers should not only be abolished but those who engage in these economic destabilizing acts should be thrown in prison and seen as the thieves that they are.

I was an FSA also. Let go on Weds. No warning. It is time to unionize the workplace once again to protect ourselves from the Marvins of the world. Nothing frightens them more than unity.

It isn’t CBRE cleaning .
CBRE guys are just third party engineers . That Service equipment and building physical plant just like every other vendor . Just a preferred vendor instead all various trades currently being Used. They have nothing to do with FSA duties or roles.

Can't imagine that a outsourced third-party maintenance team will care as much as our single FSA who, in addition to cleaning and maintaining our store well, cleaned up countless disgusting spills, piles of dog c-ap, and sc-aped gum off the floor. The newbees won't be there to fix overflowing p–py toilets when it happens! But wait, maybe a department supervisor will gladly do it! Surely! That is, if they can tear themselves away from standing around goofing off and bs-ing at the customer service desk for hours on end! Why can't corporate see what truly isn't working? Oh, btw, our assemblers put together countless grills! We sold hundreds! Will miss our guys. Can't see a third party person getting a huge, heavy grill box off top stock to fill an immediate order. There will be new hurray up and wait rules. Probably won't touch a load picker machine. Union rules.

I was fsa too for five years. Got cut yesterday. I loved the job and worked my tail off over the past several months on the new look for the store. All new paint, building maintenance, and constructed their projects. This has been the plan for months and the managers all knew about. It's going to be fun to watch Marvin run the place into the ground....the same way he did JC Penny's.

Worked as an assembler and was not even told my job was gone. ( was off yesterday) I found out when I tried to log in to check my schedule. Very unprofessional entrapment by a large corporation .

Every day, this Manchurian Candidate from Home Depot receives twice my annual FSA (former 24 hours ago) salary before I would break for lunch at Costoco for my $1.49 hot dog special. Marvin have a great LABOR Day. You worked us all very hard for it. May you receive all that you give to others 10 fold.

I am a lumber associate at my Lowe’s and I just had a conversation two days ago with one of our FSA’s, now he’s just gone. He worked so hard and was a genuinely good dude, I enjoyed working with him and wish him and other former FSA’s the best of luck. It’s unfortunate what is happening.

Assembly for 7 years. I loved my job. I was the kinda dude that always went above and beyond for my store. I regularly went to customers' houses to install ice makers, swap fridge doors or replace broken things. Uses my own vehicle too because they wouldn't let me be a back up delivery driver. Our store had 4 full time positions posted for different departments and told me incant even apply until August 7th. Also, my 4 weeks of vacation and my ton of sick time traded for 2 weeks pay and a boot out of the door. Lowe's has always treated me very well, but things change.

Assembly jobs gone also, got canned this morning. Been there over five years. It's kind of funny stuff like this happened at Home Depot when Ellison was their. Ellison is gonna screw Lowes up by farming all the facility service and assembly jobs out to third party contractors. They started renting trucks to do their deliveries. What's next Uber deliveries? Let's see how their customer service metrics drop even more. Ellison didn't help any of the companies he worked for before. He's gonna work on some more big bonuses by streamlining and retire at Lowes expense.

Fsa here. Got the ax this morning. Not going on a rant about my managers, they all treated me well, SM encourages me to apply for a different position. We all knew this was coming, just didn't expect it so soon. Notice ahead of tome would have been nice, but I suppose we can all sleep better knowing Marvin and his crew will get a few more dollars for the shareholders.

When your position that you've held for over eleven years is eliminated without even a second's notice, with no severance what-so-ever and the only reason I can think of at this moment is the CEO making 20 million instead of just 15 million makes me want to go back to school at the age of 51. New beginnings,.

You have to apply for open positions because of equal opportunity. If you want to stay with the company (not sure why), speak to your asm's. Right now, the stores are struggling to bring in new hires because of the HR change so there should be positions that can be posted and you can move into as long as you're a good employee, why would they not want to keep you.

It is true. Store manager got an email around 9 am. Called an all managers meeting soon after to inform them of the changes. By 10 am the store manager called me into the office to tell the news. They let me stay the day to clean out or review anything on lowesnet (like career portal). No one followed me or rushed me out the door.
No opportunity to just move into another department. Cannot reapply until Aug 6th. Earliest you can begin work, if rehired, is on Aug 20th.
The remainder of this week, and the next two weeks will be paid for. If you do not seek or land another job at lowes within 180 days, you will lose all seniority and accrued time off.
Assembler is gone too. He said a couple of goodbyes and left quickly out the back by receiving.
A third party crew will be taking over tomorrow. A CBRE tech was here yesterday (never saw nor spoke to him) to do PM on equiptment. Now I wonder if he was here to take "before" pictures.

Part of this is the ‘Amazon Effect’. ALL retailers—not just Lowes—are being forced to re-examine their entire store operations and look for efficiencies to better compete with Amazon, who is taking market share away from everybody. Two and half years ago it was dept mgrs. This year it was HRM’s, FSA’s, and Assembly. Next year it will be another position. No job is safe and and don’t think for one minute that you are not expendable.

God, I’m glad I got out two years ago. I really feel for the current employees in the stores.

Don't know why people are downvoting. FSA and Assembly got cut today. No severance, and no opportunity to re-assign in store. We have to wait to reapply to the store, and if we accept the "transition pay" we have to wait even longer

This is the end of Lowes fiscal quarter, so they are cutting everyone today, so they can claim a lower payroll on their financial statements for investors for Q2.

its complete Bulls**t to fire people for no cause, just so the CEO/CIO can look good on a report to investors and they can get their bonuses.

Cutting internet is bad too. In a time when many retailers have full on dedicated teams for online shopping, lowes decided to dismantle theirs. Brilliant.

This company is being run for stock price manipulation, not for business growth.

My husband had a job in assembly and the same thing happened to him today. No notice whatsoever. They called him into the office and told him his position was gone and he can leave. He is also a backup driver but they didnt even give him the option to continue doing that even though they constantly complain about not having enough drivers. He has received several certificates from Lowes commending him on his work and is always staying late when they ask.

I got cut too. Full time FSA get 80 hrs. pay plus accrued vacation and holiday pay. I wouldn't want to touch anything in the bathrooms now. The place is going to be filthy. I posed a question that didnt get answered. Who takes care of a HazMat spill now? Just imagine the cost for a third party to come and do it. Thousands of dollars each time. Call me crazy, but I bet Amazon buys Lowe's within a year. They will put Home Depot out of business within 2 years.

So an asm gets eliminated and is given severance. HR gets eliminated and they get months of notice and a bonus to those that stayed till the end. An FSA gets eliminated and they dont even get a days notice or severance.

Seems like discrimination of lower paid workers that cant afford to sue.
