Considering everything is there anyway, maybe that's the plan? Since they all about consolidation.

They did try to sell the RenCen to Dan Gilbert (a biggie in Detroit) last year. Didn't work.
Maybe they can all move to the glorious facility they built in Pontiac ...you remember. ..the one where they relocated people from different states...the same one that became a movie studio after sitting empty for years shortly after construction. ..you know the one with the waterfall inside. ....all of engineering under one roof...that lasted about 8 years...oh wait didn't the wrecking ball make short of all of that complex along with everything else GM had in Pontiac ...when the next recession hits you'll drive where ever and when ever you have to if your hungry enough. ...
The rencen has a better view from Mary's office than the tech center would.
I'm sure there are loads of tax incentives for being in detroit.
Ah, me thinks there is something in it for GM. I am sure Detroit is giving them some big fat incentives to stay put at the Ren Cen.
Not sure I agree about "under 40 wouldn't go to suburbs" as that isn't what I've observed. Lots are just outside the suburbs and gripe about having to drive to Detroit. Just had one leave to go work for company in Troy for that reason.
So maybe the plan is to get people to quit.
Then they don't have to pay severance.
Probably because very little talent under 40 would want to work up there. I'm 37 and would leave if they moved us to any suburban location, and I know the younger folks in their downtown and midtown lofts and apartments feel much more strongly than me about it.
Maybe they're moving IT away from everyone else so they can let them all go at once, and go back to outsourcing IT.
Maybe to India, where they can get more for their dollar.
Well considering that there are several groups in IT being told that they are moving from WTC to Ren Cen, I'm thinking that ain't gonna happen.
