Any new rumors?

They didn't cut IT deeply enough in February.
There's still a lot of deadwood.
@10f1kY2r-2yti, MI IT is not on the radar for additional cuts, nor is any other IT location, IT and Design took the biggest hit back in Feb IT being hit the hardest. the upcoming cuts are outside of the two area's mentioned and directed towards other area's at GM. they have already started at MPG letting go some vehicle engineers.
People were posting that more layoffs were going to happen in August or September.
Are there any rumors or signs inside the company that this is really going to happen?
Any mysterious meetings for managers?
The age demographic is noticeably younger. Until GM is sued HARD, it will continue.
I heard the next round will target rote IT functions which there are a lot of. Also, if you came in on the SE Michigan HP train, this will be your last stop. I did not hear timing. We'll see how the earnings call goes this week..
Correct, the space in Chandler is leased and was just renewed. As the building was filling up, there were talks about leasing the building next door to support the increased headcount. However, it was decided it was better to get rid of a few hundred 'non-essential' IT staff to make room for more (younger) software developers.
They are hiring, but only if you are under 30 years of age.
The Parmer building in Austin is leased.
FYI the only leased IT Center is in AZ. The Georgia building is owned (which is why the previous three buildings(two of which were leased) were consolidated into the current building)
Confirmed IT cuts. A coworker in Georgia mentioned that they are already looking for a smaller office for when the lease expires in 2023
Heard MI IT will be hit hard next round. Jobs to shifted to either Austin, Dublin, or Bangalore.
I have heard late August- early September. More IT and def corporate people (finance, lawyers etc) will be hit hard.
Not sure about engineers (I was laid off in February but have have job since)
If GM didn't hire any black people or targeted them for layoffs, there would be lawsuits.
If they do the same thing to older people, no one cares.
Agree, so obvious that the senior, higher paid employees were let go. Under the pretense that the job position was no longer required. Yet, the new jobs posted are for the same jobs/skill set. Hmm, something is fishy.
They are infact hiring, it's more than obvious even to people NOT in our industry that GM flushed the highly paid older age group.
That is a fact and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
How old are the new hires?
Does the spread of ages they're hiring match the US population?
They are hiring
