My coworkers say there has been layoffs at my store which is why a lot of new part timers like me were just hired. How did you guys sell memberships when you were there? I’m struggling and I don’t want to be next on the chopping block

Been a long time since BN wanted “booksellers “. Nooksellers were the only employee they wanted. Then Toysellers. Now it’s push the $25 sale. They were once great. They were once booksellers.
To the OP; the very fact that you feel the need to come to a joint like this to ask this question speaks volumes. In the Olde Dayes, when booksellers weren't constantly threatened with termination over Membership sales, a guy could go to the MOD or the Head Cashier (remember those!?) and ask for help. Then, the older hand would say, "do this, or do that", or, "let me hear your pitch", of something like that.
Alas, those days are obviously over. So, OP, figure out something that works for you, and when you find that technique, hang on to it like grim death. Better yet, find another job, because booksellers aren't valued by BN anymore. Now, the company likes Membershipsellers. Good luck to you, friend.
“What a sh–ty company!!”
You got that RIGHT !
Part of the struggle is the customers know BN is in a downward spiral.
They saw their regular knowledgeable booksellers fired, less bodies on the floor and the vibe in the stores are not positive....
Personally, in good faith, I feel horrible trying to talk them into something I don’t believe in.
