Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Houston, we have a problem.

Rumored that Lance is visiting Spring Dispatching Center tomorrow, 9/10. People are saying director heads will be rolling. Also, 9/10 is when traffic will be diverted from Settegast yard to Englewood yard for a major cutback for Settegast 9/17. Also have heard Avondale and Alexandria are going to be facing something similar?

They don’t care because buisness isn’t coming back. They only want to move the freight they make premium pricing on.

Lance may just looking for an excuse to get out of Omaha, which is an objectively rotten place to live, even if you make $11 million/year. I think they made all the managers fly in there for training just to torture us even more (try sitting through two weeks of videos of Lance repeating corporate platitudes. Cruel and unusual to the fullest). To his credit he is polished and articulate, for whatever that may be worth.

@1qil: As a rule of thumb you should never fully trust anyone who has any power over you, no matter how little.

Lance will tell employees what a good job their doing and the next day they’ll be layoffs and cuts. He’s a backstabber, don’t trust him.

Good. Houston was always a mess. The "chief engineer" was a real piece of work from what I remember (his eyes bulged when he yelled, and he was always yelling, often for no apparent reason). The senior managers (A.K.A. "directors") were also a joke. One was deaf. Maybe that was the reason for all the yelling? We may never know.

Lance is visiting Spring. He was tasked with hand delivering BarS weenies to all employees. Once they are vomiting, he will announce layoffs. It will be less taxing in him as the workers are hovering over the commode.

I really feel that UP is going to choke on what they’ve done here. There is no integrity in this company anymore and maybe there never was but I’m just amazed at how many people they lied to and how many lives and families they deliberately screwed over to make a buck. Good luck to them on their endeavors but you can’t screw this many people and think you won’t have any consequences. Who’s going to keep this railroad going when they’ve let everyone go?

I've heard they're cutting 18 people off at Settegast. Their plan is to shut down the east side of the yard. They've cut jobs at Englewood. I don't know how they expect to move more cars with less people.
