I think PepsiCo has given up on layoffs

Instead, they've decided to go the firing or "get them to quit" route. Lately, they just keep adding more work on our already overstuffed plates, bumping up the criticism levels and creating such a stressful environment that a lot of people simply can't take it anymore.

This is employee abuse, plain and simple. And yet there is nothing we can do about it...

I disagree with some of the posts here, there is way too much risk to continue down the path of continued IT cuts. The business is already sweating over year-end and some of the vendor's best talent has decided to move on which is raising the risk even more.

Anybody that is still there and is not vested into the pension plan OR has any hope of sticking around long enough to get vested is simply wasting their time. Without the pension, there is literally zero reason to stay, pay and benefits at other companies are more than par with Pepsico and Frito and the work environment is better. Just ask any of the people that have been layed off over the years and now work for much better companies.

I think this overload them principle applies everywhere. They are pushing the needle with being cheap.
The driver position and district managers have become a revolving door. Workloads are crazy. Goals are not achievable. Pay is poor now and raises are in the pitiful 1-2% range.
Most upper management positions are now narcissistic kids who have very little experience.

Too many of the senior leadership have too much at stake to get off the outsourcing bandwagon. For them to admit that it is not working is for them to admit that they made critical strategic mistake (whish is never going to happen) plus JD's replacement has the same mindset as JD for outsourcing.

The contracts are signed, the penalties for cancelling would cost tens of millions and with all the cuts over the past few years there are no FTE's available to take on the added workload. Expect more of the same, leadership continuing to support outsourcing, while reducing FTE headcount and making life more miserable for the remaining individuals who have not voluntarily or involuntarily left the company for better jobs elsewhere.

Could not agree more. I even asked to be cut but was told no. More and more piled up. Had to say no. Everyone knows outsourcing has failed.

It’s the same old Q4 playbook and we are all disposable. Support issues have forced IT staff reduction projections to slip behind plan. We are now cost overrun. If productivity targets are missed, bonuses and raises will be impacted. It has created a s**t storm of leadership panic. After 5 years and multiple attempts, outsourcing is still not showing any signs of promise. The storm surge of excuses continues to rise. There are no rainbows and the leprechauns are leaving with the pots of gold. Don’t trust that “compassionate” Sr Director who is sympathetic to your cause. They submitted lists of names as part of their annual productivity objective. They have always known exactly who is leaving and when. Short and simple, they are missing their targets and have been told to fix it or else. But uh oh, aggressive cuts now risks year end. Time to dust off the “I know it’s difficult” speeches but don’t confuse the deception for sympathy. The ship is sinking and we are going down with it. I hope I am cut before year end.
