I worked as an Account Executive for NetApp for almost five years. I resigned in August 2018 after deciding to leap to Dell. Let me share the pros and cons after recently celebrating one year of employment at Dell.
While working for NetApp, I had six managers spanning almost five years. I’m a high performer so this wasn’t a worry. The reality was constant chaos, back to back meetings and an apparent disconnect from reality. Deals we should have won, we lost and pride of ownership was lacking. Finding someone to support a particular need took weeks and the overall consulting aspect of NetApp was missing. Fast forward to Dell and I have zero complaints. We are winning consistently and I know that’s because of our people more so than our products. I no longer see constant turmoil specific to layoffs and the morale is the best I’ve experienced. NetApp shouldn’t be an option for anyone. They are lacking much of the foundation required to be successful and that includes the inability to employ quality people long term. I sleep great at night.
