What do you get for pretending the danger's not real
Meek and obedient, you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel
What a surprise!
A look of terminal shock in your eyes
Now things are really what they seem
No, this is no bad dream

The reason for a consultant is due to the complexity of our products. SE’s typically do not have the depth of experience required to meet a deliverable. Partners are overwhelmed. This wasn’t a coordinated decision.
When there is no PS then the systems engineers will be asked to step in and do the work of a consultant. Happens all the time. They will be expected to do both roles.
Cutting PS is another way to cut costs. Let's give it some time to see if it works.
Cutting all of PS was the death of the company. Relying on a VAR to deliver is s–c-de. Finally!
To the commenter reaching about his growing business unit:
- $61m annual revenue is a drop in the ocean, nothing to crow about. Your BU's products are half - baked.
- PS was not an under- performing business. It is a lower margin business at every tech co., essential to enabling enterprise customers. Netapp doesn't even realise they've shot themselves in the foot by cutting PS.

This says it all. In reference to the reply about a pant load .... The only growth at NTAP besides executives stuffing the channel is the HR department processing layoffs.
NetApp has been “Transforming” for years. Leadership historically and currently has been scrambling and it’s time to recognize they have lost. To those of you claiming profits and rewards, wake up. One product or one business unit doesn’t make a company. The census is in. NetApp is done. Good luck winning. Only lazy tech managers invest in NetApp. Only lazy individuals work for NetApp.

What business unit is that?
What a pant load. This forum is such nonsense. My business unit at NetApp is booming. The company hit a speed bump the last couple of Qtrs...they let go of the under-performers or under-performing business units. It happens everywhere in the high tech industry. They are transforming the business and their will be pain along the way. Accept it and move on.
Epic failure
Man that Solaris reference lmao. Accurate to the dot.
Any positive news?
How about Henri Richard and his Ducati love?
From a customer perspective NetApp is like Sun Microsystems. Your HCI offering is like Solaris X86. Impossibly complicated to install and unable to compete with newer commodity products. Think Linux versus Solaris X86. FAS and ONTAP are like SPARC and Solaris. Over priced and proprietary. Management turnover mirrors McNealy and the other SUN founders departures. History repeats, both the products and employees that are left will end in the basement of some other company like the SUN employees and technology at Oracle.
