Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Apathy

How apathetic are employees at your store?

No one at my store seems to want to do their job; freight sits in the aisles for days, associates stand around and talk, managers hiding out in offices playing on their phones, customers call out “hello!? Is anyone here? I want to buy something” or call the store asking for help in a certain aisle.

It’s as if no one cares anymore.

Our ASM'S are hiding somewhere in the Store. Only three rooms they can use. One layoff FSA was called back. ASM'S went home 30 minutes before his appointment to find out where he will work. When they called to talk to a ASM the answer was "Not my responsibility". Really, fire the Management! We can run the Store better without them!

The bigger Lowe’s near my store just posted 26 jobs of all kinds; asm, specialist, full, and part time. Looks like, for them at least, the hiring freeze is over.

Meanwhile at my store we continue to lose associates; part timers are working full time hours, 11 hour shifts, and covering 4 and 5 departments. Store manager hides in his office or is in meetings.

We had two employees in my dept both sat and sun, an opener and a closer. I closed sat and open sun, my coworker did the opposite. Today there was no one in my department until I arrived at 3 to close, dept was a mess. I’ve spent the evening cleaning, straightening, and zoning. We still have freight in the back from last week that is blocked in by trim a tree c-ap.

They gave us 0 extra hours on a holiday weekend. They gave us 0 redundancy for the callouts that they knew for a fact would come, and they did. They knew we'd be overworked and exhausted and constantly hearing our call buttons go off despite being rooted to the same spot helping five people at the same time. They knew all of that sh– would happen and they allowed it to happen anyway.

Associates are the company's greatest asset? Only in the sense that every day you have fewer and fewer of them. If you aren't firing them they're quitting because they're exhausted.

We are the same way, we can’t hire enough employees and those that we do hire don’t last. We had a guy in paint who lasted a week. The new home decor specialist lasted about 4 months before moving on a couple of weeks ago. Cashiers are here today gone tomorrow.

Not like the good old days.

I can confidently say that the store i'm at is a bit of an exception and not the rule but we have ok management with an older work force so things are ok but people are getting p-ss-d off having to cover multiple departments and we are having trouble hiring people.
