A brief look into how impossible Lowe's corporate has made doing a Pro Specialist job:
Corporate has sent out 2 dozen roll outs of new Pro Specialty Sales Roles and Responsibilities. These include every position of Pro Sales: Specialist, Loader, Cashier, CSA, and even management up to the Store Manager. It lists specifically what each is supposed to do, and micromanages down to the hour!
The last roll out was 3 months ago, and to date, my store does not do ANY of it!
Sure, there is a small disclaimer after each corporate policy that says "based on NEEDS of the store" where the need ALWAYS supersedes corporate policy.
But this is unlawful, and unethical. Howe am I as one of these key player employees in Pro to be graded each year? Or daily / weekly on performance? When I am constantly tasked based on need, and not on corporate metrics.
Imagine a Police officer showing up to work, and a call comes over the radio that a rape is in progress. He goes to rush to do his job, but his Lieutenant tells him not to go because his car NEEDS ro be washed. That is EXACTLY what we as employees deal with daily. Lowe's has cut staff so deeply, that we all cover other desks. We do not do what we interviewed for or hired for and these "tasking" roles were NEVER told to us at time of interviews.
A logical person would then say, "well, whats the point of corporate? If we never follow roll outs by corporate, why even have them? They make no policy!"
Lastly, Joe McFartland ruined policy even more and has created a racist, hostile environment for all employees and customers. Would I be wrong if every day from 8am to 2 pm (Pro hours as per corporate) I sought out Hispanics with small hands to sell them tools? Would I be wrong if I openly said, "Good morning sir. I see you are Hispanic and have small hands. This drill is perfect for you?"
Because my VP has set this standard, and nothing happened to him about his comments so its again logical to assume this approach is perfectly reasonable.
Corporate is so backwards, that they cause inefficiency, and very unoptimal outputs. They create ethical violations, instead of clarifying, and setting the proper standard. Even when they send their incompetent and lazy district managers to view the store, these minions are so caught up on the stuff that DOESNT matter (the minutia) rather than the big picture that we all suffer. They will walk, then have the bare-bone skeleton crew of staff stop what they are doing (serving customers) and do very unimportant tasks such as cleaning up bull pens (could be done overnight or after hours) where no customers are even present.
Remember when this new regime of mo–ns took over and told us to use our own vehicles to drive to Home Depot? To take pictures of Contractors trucks then call them? Meanwhile, we have legions of customers who sought us out and opened a business account that isnt being served, or has NEVER BEEN CALLED!!!!
Bottom line is, this regime of officers we have are backwards. They are incompetent, and have broken every legal, ethical, and area of operations to an all-time inefficiency. They do not have answers, they are not leaders. They disrespect employees in every sentence, and action, then demand we smile all day and lie that everything is great.
Marvin Ellison, Joe McFarland, Jennifer Weber, and the rest of them should all be very ashamed of themselves.
