Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Kudos, and thank you to the Washington Post!

Just wanted to say thank you and kudos to Tracy @ The Washington Post for having the drive and courage to post the story.
There is so much unethical business practices going on with Lowes that its refreshing that someone was brought to light.

There is a "secret" hiring freeze" at Lowe's, where full time employees who try and interview for promotions or transfers are forced to interview and go through the process, with no chance of ever getting either! Managers at the store level tell us there is a hiring freeze, but Corporate has that hush hush. Meanwhile, Lowes is telling those let go such as FSA, assemblers, etc to reapply KNOWING they will never be taken back. Its so wrong on so many levels.

One man was given a transfer to go to another store 10 miles away. He showed up Monday, and was told he has to go back to his original store but with excuses of lies. The real reason is corp wont allow transfers under the secret hiring freeze (2nd one in months now) so the man returned. He is now waiting for his store manager to "find him something" and its now Weds and this store manager hasnt done anything and this poor man is in limbo like the Walking Dead.

We all are! As full time employees, all we are fed are lies, empty promises, and threats,

Lowes hires off the street with no experience paying these people more than the fully capable and experienced employees and then expect that employee to train these newbies. How wrong is that? When we went to corporate and H.R., they said its managements responsibility yet, nothing else further ever gets done. The employees wander around with no training, and the established employees are called trouble makers, and malcontents.

Its so bad at every level its impossible to articulate in a forum.

But again, thank you Washington Pot for exposing the true colors of current Lowe;s upper management, and their unethical, lying, business practices.

I was there 15 years, worked my way up.
How about the PAY discrepancies, when I worked there, Men were paid at least 20K a year more than women for the same job.
I even had a masters degree, but ofcouse you cannot discuss pay at lowes or will get fired.
Such b—s—
Run if you can!!!! get out and get away you are just an number
I was groped, s-xually assaulted, and even reported it to several managers that thought it was a funny Joke, Just leave, it is not worth it.

Makes sense then WHY , I have applied for other positions and get smoke and mirrors in my store and just the automated email TY for applying to the other stores for positions there .... YET a near by store is having a hiring event ... for the same position I applied for and no response .... just “under review” ... my SM said want me to call them ? I said yes of course ... he looked down and sad and changed the subject.. WTH ?

I'm hearing Ace is the place. I don't have one near me, but there is a local hardware store which I frequent.

Favoritism is everywhere in Lowe’s land. Take attendance for example. Some employees are actually held accountable according to the attendance policy while others can do as they please with no repercussions. As a manager, I can vouch this is happening!

We have quite a few full time associates who are late multiple times a week, call out numerous times a month, etc etc etc. They are not even on any type of documentation.

If an outside service familiar with Kronos went store to store and audited attendance, it would be lawsuit city!

Maybe they should do an article on Lowe’s hiring practices. We just hired a flooring specialist, she worked at Home Depot. They didn’t even interview anyone else including the long time part timer.

I can attest to that! I was even lied to, and Lowes deceived me at my interview. I was given a schedule, and my core responsibilities. When I started, my schedule was completely opposite, and I was forced to work in other depts and on register and never did my core responsibilities I was hired for. I immediately contested, but Lowes said since the hiring Assistant Store Manager was alone with me in the room, nothing could be done. But that was how LOWES conducted their interview!!

Its been so bad, I have obtained a lawyer and have to documentt everything daily and report it to my legal team.

I was hired as a XXX, and never work that job. How is that not unethical business practices? They hide behind some small print that states "needs of the store" as if they are above the law.

They also refuse accomodations by physicians in writing, and break untold amount of laws.

Its a matter of time, but Lowe;s will have to pay for all their wrong doings and will.
