Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

They will stop at nothing

there will be more layoffs. looking to get rid of full timers so they don't have to shell out medical insurance. They are looking at any little thing do it. I did a direct ship, The senior didn't didn't like it and argued, he called the district manager. Had me terminated. No money lost, sale was made, customer was satisfied.

“The company loses money if they ship clearance.”
They lose more money when they don’t take care of the customer (or their employees). Retail isn’t rocket science. You provide goods that customers need at the fairest prices possible, exceeding their expectations by providing an excellent customer service experience. You must also adapt to the times. Obviously this companies leaders weren’t/aren’t visionaries. To the person that was fired....they did you a favor. You’ll be fine.

So if you followed the rules, you might still have your job, that said I am sorry if you were let go for that and hope you are ok! But I bet you were full time and they were looking to get rid of you anyway possible. This company is sinking fast and I knew it so I left about two months ago after years of service and being told I was maxed out. Felt there was no room for growth in a failing company that like all other corporate greed(‘merica) companies will top down take as much as they can and screw the lower class people so they get more!

It costs the company money to do a direct ship. I also bet this item was a clearance product- and I bet they have told you time and time again not to do it. The company loses money when we ship clearance.
