Sadly, Cashier & Front End Employee position has become part time as they put in more self check registers. This ain't stopping.

When your think about it, our store is now up to 30 OGP associates. This is a free service to customers. Walmart give to find a way to repurpose wage hours to cover this.

Hate to break it to you, but there are plenty of cashiers who under-ring, steal, etc. So, it is still going on with or without human cashiers.

Additionally, the company continues to work on the self-checkout issues with under-ringing. The store closest to us was recently updated so that the self checkouts are catching a lot more of this. I see the SCO Host having to be more active and review video of scans now. They are never going to get away from shrink totally, but they are being proactive about it regardless of what you all think.

The one argument in favor of having cashiers that cannot be denied is, you have almost total control over theft. Some of it will still happen, but we all know not in the hemorrhagic fashion it's BEEN happening with the self checks.

Lets look at the other side of the coin, there are a lot of people that don't want to use self checkouts.I myself don't mind if I have a few items but if I have A shopping cart full of grocery I sure as hell don't want the hassle of checking myself out after collecting grocery, that's what I pay them for.I constantly see long lines backing out into soft lines with the few traditional check outs they have left. Some customers hate the self checkouts. And wondering a little off subject they have installed gates at each entrance of the store pissing customers off even more and the beeping sound they constantly make during the day is erking. The place has taken on the persona of a court house or perhaps worse. The shrink still goes on.If your are a associate A prison may be a better word, The store is full of on going new associates, the thieves are among us as well as customers.walmart will be down seizing there bottom line soon and management will be prime picking ground. Our store is full of so called managers at all levels. People near off the street being hired and wearing managers badges some couldn't poor piss out of a boot with the instructions on the heal. And worse drunk on power trips some with the glassy face look of a Messiah coaching at will for any reason they come up with

This is a good thing. One worker looking over 12 available self-checkout kiosks is far more efficient than 12 elderly cashiers moving at the speed of molasses in winter.

I love self check-out. Don't have to wait on some slow cashier who is in training or who is just waiting to go on break. Self-checkout— always open, moves as fast as I can, dont have to talk to anyone.
