Depends.

Are you "super excited" about the opportunity?

I was a G10 in Texas when I got laid off a couple years ago making about 20% less of their offer to you. The team was transitioning to different work that I was a perfect fit for, but someone had to go to meet the LR quota.

For Texas, the pay is actually pretty good but have an exit strategy - make sure you don't fall into complacency and let your skill stagnate. If you ignore everything else remember this... Leave after three to five years - do not try to make this your home.

I would take it for the experience. And I've found that as long as you're actively looking to improve yourself and processes you're working on, you're pretty safe as a G10. G11-12 are more frequently the target of layoffs IMHO.

Think of Cisco HR process like a giant router. You are assigned a MAC address with the prefix G10. Every year, they reboot the router and higher grade levels are aged out, just like an ARP cache. It's not AARP-cache, it's ARP cache. After annual LR reboot, your G10 address has been forwarded to the LR-gateway of last resort.

Managers have been known to hire for job security, or to ensure their friends are not targeted in future layoffs. A manager with less than 8 individual contributors might also be targeted for a layoff.

You're on a layoff site asking people who've been laid off if you may get laid off. LOL. Right? I mean, think of the thousands of G10 employees out there who are not getting laid off.
Take it with a grain of salt, brotha man. All companies now are ruthlessly laying off as needed, I really doubt they'd go thru all the effort to bring you on - just to kick you to the curb in a year (that's expensive AF for talent acquisition).

G10 is in the danger zone... Majority of our team is G10+ and our team is all gone

You’re asking the wrong questions. Does the product you are working on make the company money? We are a publicly traded company and it’s all about the shareholders.

A G10 will be a target for layoffs sooner or later. Just don’t take it if you stress out easily or are looking for a long time gig.

Cisco eliminated performance reviews and conducts constant layoffs. It's a relationship based culture, no longer performance based. Are you personal friends with the VP of the organization?

Yes, layoffs are quite common and if you want that kind of stress every year then, yes, take the offer. Cisco is quite good at laying off people and don't bee fooled to think they care about their people. It's no longer about performance at Cisco, it's all about who you know and who likes you. Btw- I was laid-off at Cisco as fairly new G10 myself.
