A common ploy by US companies. Especially prevalent in the 90's and 00's. Invensys et al sold their estates portfolio's to holding companies (themselves) to get them off the books when cash dried up and then leased them back at a peppercorn lease. Similarly capitalising R&D time and adding it to the balance sheet...............

Changing to 'leasing' products to the field instead of 'selling' products to the field. So creating a new structure to be able to do that. But how does a company 'lease' to itself? Sounds fishy.
