GE Greenville - Headcount Reductions Planned for November

Due to additional Gas Turbine procurement losses, GE Greenville is planning additional headcount reductions in November. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to everyone. You should consider leaving on your own terms instead of waiting on the ax to fall on your neck. Don't let the corrupt and fraudulent GE impact your families Christmas. They really don't care about you. You are only an SSO number connected to an expense (your salary).

So I've heard there is a hiring freeze. Is that corporate wide, or just certain divisions?

Well the standards are going to get even lower in Schenectady!! I told them No and everybody I know said No as well. I and many others landed a good paying job with much better long term job security!! The benefits are even pretty close. Why give that up just to maybe get another year with GE!?!? Pretty soon you id–ts will be surrounded by mo–ns who can’t even spell GE! Thanks for funding my education! I think I’ll keep it and continue to use it elsewhere that treats me better. The lack of stress and bull has been too wonderful for myself and apparently many others. What little more GE could give me isn’t worth it. Thanks for the memories but that’s how I’d like to keep it with GE. Just a bad memory that I hope to forget about one day. To those who decide to go back, good luck and I’m sure you have your reasons. To those who have still been there all this time, it’s all on you now.

GE lowered their stands for new hires because they aren't offing the pay and benefits that they were 20 years ago. You get what you pay for! Some Machinists in GE, various segments have not gotten a raise in 8 years. Others have had periods as much as five years with pay freezes, all the while the upper management were raking in the big paychecks and bonuses. So in come the bottom of the barrel, to be trained by the p-ss-d off senior folks who haven't gotten fair raises, and who's Fidelity accounts are bogus. Good business plan!

Larry was just in Greenville and bragged about the terrific Lean projects being implemented across the Plant. Everything is coming up roses.

Or was he given rose colored safety glasses?

No. That have nothing better to do. If they did then they would refuse to do it.

They should be fired. It's not about what you did for me 20 years ago. It's about what have you done for me lately. They are riding the ship to the bottom. They need to stop riding the sinking ship and either start bailing water or walk the plank.

GE used to have much higher standards when it came to new employees. They started lowering that standard easily 20 years ago. Now it’s so low you have to dig for it just to see it. There was a time when they wouldn’t even look at you if you had a GED. A high school diploma might make it if you were highly recommended from the inside already. The old employees do come across as lazy. They see the light at the end of the tunnel for their retirement and have become burned out over the decades. They’ve seen every great idea fail miserably several times over and have grown tired of explaining the same process multiple times to some new person who just doesn’t get it or doesn’t want to. Most just want to get paid as much as possible for the least amount of effort as possible to afford their toys and playtime. When I started, supporting my family was my priority and motivation. I had a lot at risk. The young ones don’t have that so their motivation and priorities are self serving and has no risk.

So we know Schenectady is hiring because we saw the advertisement but do we know who got called back and turned it down? Nobody I know has been called back. Only a company doing well would post job openings right? Surly it couldn’t be to present the fraudulent image of a highly secussful company. We all want the great feel good one that was actually created for all to believe to be true. I wonder how many qualified applicants will actually get called for an interview. The only chumps who waste their time to apply will be the highly unqualified and desperate. The biggest fraud GE created is the belief that some how reality doesn't apply to it. We all saw the fraud right in front of our own eyes everyday but were too nieve to realize it because of the bliss we got from our paychecks. No wonder ignorance is bliss.

Schenectady is Hiring for machinists and electrical skill trade. I guess the union members they laid off said NO to coming back. Those are the smart union members! Why work at a place with uncertainty? Knowing that a layoff to Power is inevitable with the writing on the wall.

It’s as if there are people within GE who have a belief that GE has never hired anybody and then laid them off shortly after starting. What fairytail land do you people live in??

GE needs to hire more buzzword generators. The past ones just didn't do the trick.

GE needs to concentrate on the "low-hanging fruit"
GE needs to stop trying to "boil the ocean"
GE managers need more "bandwidth"
GE beliefs Customers determine our success.
Stay lean to go fast.
Learn and adapt to win.
Empower and inspire each other.
Deliver results in an uncertain world.
If you are a GE manager and you are sad that six sigma failed, get out. If you were a manager that resisted the removal of six sigma, you are THE problem, not the solution.

Come on GE, you can do better than this. Do you really think the money spent on these dumb things "initiatives" were worth it? How much does GE spend generating this dung? Who thinks it motivated a single person? If you were motivated by this stuff you are part of the problem.

GE Power is going to implement Lean Principles into the business and turn this turkey around. There will be no layoffs and tell your underemployed and unemployed buddies to brush up their resumes. There will be a hiring frenzy shortly. Woo Hoooo!

No worries here. I have a low enough pay number to make the cut. Hangin' ten until the end!
