A new letter from the EEOC came last week. The investigation continues into Noble’s age discrimination. The letter states due to “staffing changes and limited resources” they have not been able to interview people as quickly as they wanted too. But “the investigation of Noble Energy employment practices is ongoing “.

I think all of realize the goal of the layoffs, especially the first lay-off, was to get rid of old people (over 50). We all assumed that they laid off enough younger folks to cover their tracks. We will see.

Quite true. Meanwhile, Noble management will be doing everything they can to muddy the waters with statistical slight of hand.
It should be noted that some younger employees were also laid off. Curiously, many of those individuals had visa issues. Hmm, another form of bias? In any case, management will simply point to the younger people terminated and pretend any apparent age bias is merely a statistical fluke (regardless of the preponderance of evidence that says otherwise). Sadly, the government will have a difficult task proving the obvious.
The wheels of justice grind slowly. It takes a while to sort through the lay-off demographics and review those cases where long-tenured ( read expensive to lay off) are suddenly “poor performers” and released to be replaced by a cheaper individual. Noble will drag this out as long as possible but it will run to completion. I will be interested in the outcome for sure.

Do you really think that the EEOC is reviewing this?? It took 3-1/2 months to get a response back that they don’t have anyone to talk tp me. Talk about a broke system.
