I heard up to 500 people might be let go? Any truth in this?

274 people will be let go in the latest round of STJ layoffs. Their last day will be 07/28/14. Good luck to all of those who have lost their positions. I hope that you can find employment elsewhere.

Probably replacing experienced engineers with all the new cheaper, entry-level engineers to reduce overhead.

And they announced a $0.21 per share quarterly dividend on the same day...which multiplied by the outstanding shares is $65 million. Could have paid 10% less dividend and retained those employees at 100k/year each.

They laid off 65 people from R&D yesterday. Several were my buddies. The morale is extremely low, there's zero loyalty left considering how loyal the company is to its workers while the stock price is so high.
