Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

1000 Pharmacists to be laid off

Talked to a staff pharmacist that got laid off today. He said Walmart is cutting 1000 pharmacist across the company. Not sure how accurate.

They don’t even have a decent computer system. A slow work flow design. Yeah maybe fix that before u cut valuable people.

I sure am glad I am out of the pharmacy c-ap! wal-mart does nothing but go for the dollar. It was vastly different when I started in 1988. Pharmacy has gone to hell since then! the 4 dollar list, the missfill reports, the people who become pharmacy manager just to boss and demean their fellow pharmacistl My hope that all walmart pharmacist quit until walmart closes their pharmacy business.

It's been a long time coming, but the chain's finally got what they have been asking for. Pray for the patients. I see Rx vending machines in our future. Maybe we should pass a law that you have to be a pharmacist to restock them, before it's too late.

From 2010 to 2019, the number of pharmacy schools has doubled from 72 to 142. Yearly job growth for pharmacists is only about 1,500; yet these schools graduate about 15,000 students every year. The pharmacy diploma mills need to stop. Get out of the pharmacy profession and do not encourage your children to go into pharmacy. Meanwhile, there are only 6 new medical schools during this period. The medical profession knows how to protect its licensees. Pharmacy does not.

I am ashamed of the corporate hounds that now run my brainchild.

WalMart corporate probably thinks all the customers waiting around longer for their scripts will wander around and buy more merchandise. But what it's really going to do is drive more smart shoppers online to get out of line.

And we know who's getting the lion's share of online sales...and it isn't Walmart.

And the "competitor" just purchased an online mail order pharmacy a year ago. Seems they are still way ahead of the curve.

Interesting to see where these pharmacists will go for work. Or what pay they will work for. Most pharmacists will sell each other out in a heartbeat.

As a result all pharmacists will either work for lower pay (whatever company wants to pay you) or find other employment in another field. Amazing a business relies on pharmacists to operate and they are treated so poorly. And its the pharmacists fault after years and years of letting the profession go and giving it away.

They also cut overlap time. Stores doing 350 a day (lolol) used to have some double overlap, busier stores 3 pharmacists overlap. Triple is now double, double is eliminated or cut down a bit. So those pharmacists are having to work at multiple stores to get hours and some are being used prn. To be honest they had to see it coming. What other company has double overlap filling 350 with no drive thru?

Walmart just sent the upper management to Disney world for a week to learn how to make their employees happy! I'm sure laying off staff and cutting payroll by 40 hours was not mentioned as they rode Space Mountain!! Great way to save money Walmart! Patient safety is no longer a concern...we give imzs, test for cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure with untrained techs and fill 500 rxs a day. Consumers/patients need to voice their concern over their safety concerns or things will not change. Sad times as a professional to be treated like a group of cattle!! Walmart prides themselves on respect for the individual?! What a joke!!

Understaffed or is it unorganized/inefficient? 10 day will call orders hanging and tired/stressed workers......what is it you can control and not control......focus on what you can do and be happy to have a job! Listen to some Pharrell and find your happiness.....or another job, either way take control.

We're all going to Central Fill anyway!

The problem is these pharmacies are already understaffed and work is piling up on tired and stressed out people. This does not help the company or its pharmacy customers.

It's a company because they make the decisions to keep it a company! Life lesson.....not everyone wins and if a bleeding heart made the decisions we'd all be out of a job! Trim the fat and keep healthy. Probably too complex for simple minds to understand the big picture.

How ingenious, a corporate announcement about mass layoffs to put everyone at ease.......ever see the true human nature unravel at a time of need what people really do/think? What a brilliant idea!

My wife was laid off today. She was a tech.

I am not sure if this is as big as people are reporting but I am glad it's over as layoffs are not fun.

GOOD LUCK ALL!

How about the HO gathers some decency and they publicly announce what's going on so we do not have to guess numbers.

They are perfectly content with keeping the tax cuts, increasing exec bonuses and laying off pharmacy staff while ignoring the workload and all the effort pharmacists are putting in.

This is sad!
