Walmart gross profit 2018 was 129 billion. Must not have been enough for them so they are firing everyone because it didn’t meet projections

per Insider above HMWD: Company is firing 40% senior pharmacy staff (making too much money), 40% recent hires, 20% part-time / floaters. This ratio is so that Walmart will not be sued for discrimination against high earners. This decision has been made at least one month ago when they cancelled first two weeks of Moments of Care in anticipation of layoffs. Strategically, done now because the new grad interns are starting to pass their exams and get licensed. Lower starting wage and more eager to work hard for any hours. >>> Many moves that have been made are orders from corporate office, taking ideas from Walgreens and CVS, to trim the fat.

To those asking " do you know how we were chosen" You Make Too Much !!! They can hire newbie for minimum wage............GET OUT OF PHARMACY

Say 3 dollar less for newbie. Lets paint this picture for all of you.

3($saved) × 4400(stores/1new employee per store) x 40(hr/wk)=528,000 SAVED per week by FIRING you and hiring ME ! Everything in life revolves around money, the root of all evil and corp greed.

Got laid off yesterday as well. Totally unexpected. Been a tech there for 5 years. Started out as full time then became part time when I had my daughter. Pretty bummed about it. Does anyone know how we were chosen? Manager told me that she can’t say because its confidential. Of course they’re not going to tell me the truth.

Laid offs/Firing etc are not due to sales down ! Walmart wants more money in their pockets. Less overhead more bonus for the big wigs and keep shareholders happy. Sales have gone down a little but Walmart still profitable. Corporate Greed is all. If you are still employed, dont give it your best because all your hard work and dedication is only making them richer faster and by the end of this year or next you will be collecting unemployment or welfare like everyone but dont worry, being on welfare you can still sell your digital food stamps and get your most up to date Iphone ! For those wanting or thinking of going into pharmacy school, you are making the biggest mistake in your life. You have great choices like nursing, veterinary, physician assistant, optometry, dental hygiene etc. Get the pharmacy thought out of your head now it is not worth it. Pharmacy world has changed, corporations do not care about you. They post 1 job and 100 people apply, so they can fire you for being stupid, for making too much or just for being you. The pharmacy schools do not care about you, they only care about the payment received before classes resume. There are way too many schools that opened in the last 10 year and the US economy never came close to the prediction that so many extra pharmacist jobs was needed so now we are paying the price of too much supply and too little demand. Dont even think about opening your own pharmacy, the insurance company will eat you alive. They will find every way possible to not pay you and audit you for charge backs. But dont worry Welfare can save us all and no food stamps your food can be purchased with a special credit card and no one will ever know you are a lazy leech !!!

MS, Sister-in-law was released of her pharmacy manager position of 18 years just last Friday. No explanation given. Was only told "they were not at liberty to discuss the matter." She is now jobless and the insurance she had covered her, her husband, and fours children.

Tennessee- lost our cashier who had over 25 years with the company today!! I love how everything is cloak and dagger with Walmart. It’s wonderful going to work daily, expected to give 110%, keep a positive attitude while being cussed by angry patients and not knowing when your turn to the office will occur. Yeah....Walmart is an ideal employer🤨

Galesburg Ill-I was hired 5 months ago as a tech in this pharmacy.

I have worked SO HARD to learn the job, get certified, go to hours of orientation, watching endless videos! It hasn't been easy to say the least. But I decided I was not going to give up. I made it my personal mission to never miss a day of work, and do everything possible to prove to everyone in the pharmacy that they will be glad i am part of the team.

Yesterday I was pulled into the managers office and told I am no longer part of the pharmacy. I am told I can transition to another job and have 30 days to do so due to not having enough hours in the pharmacy.

I am devasted! The pharmacy just lost a great employee. I was so dedicated and realized I was going to love my job. I felt like I was I finally knew my team members. I felt as if I would stay there until I retired.

I feel like it's discrimination to hire someone and then tell them 4 months later they don't have there position, because there the low man on the totam pole. Especially when other people call in sick frequently, or have a second job that makes them leave the pharmacy short every dsy.

Why can't Walmart take just give me less hours in the pharmacy? Or take a hour or so from other techs to cut some hours? I was hired for part time, and would be more then willing to cut back on my hours to keep my position. I loved my job in the pharmacy.

I didn't accept the job under the terms that my job might be elimated in 4 months. After working so hard to learn a very complicated job with no room for error.

I feel stuck on what decision to make about staying at Walmart. I certainly don't want to work somewhere where your position is displaced whenever they feel neccasaey. I accepted a job with Walmart for the pharmacy. Not any other position.

Heartbroken, and indiscive!

As you all post about this Walmart pharmacy layoff situation, could you please state your city and state or at least your state in your comment. In our pharmacist conference call this morning, it was stated that we didn’t lose any pharmacists in our district in Houston. I don’t know if that included any part time or not. These layoffs are heartbreaking to hear about as I’ve been a pharmacist with this company for many, many years and never expected this. Time to hang up my jacket and exit soon. I don’t think my heart is in it anymore.

Our PIC was told today she would have to find a "new home" with Walmart before the end of August, that she had done nothing wrong it was corporate restructuring due to decrease in sales. She has been with Walmart for 10 years, has great professional care for patients and works very hard because she cares, that's just her personality!! We were told that we would have tech hours cut more on down the road!!! Yes, I do believe Walmart is thinning the crops to sale off the pharmacy department. Who knows the next time you go to get your pr-scrip-ions you will talk to a computer or a newbee that is not trained well!!!

Pharm manager got the axe today. Really puts us in a bad situation considering that our sales have more than doubled since February. We only had two pharmacist and 4 techs. They really did him dirty too.

I was laid off on yesterday and I’m 6 months pregnant. I wonder if they will compensate for my maternity leave still. It’s all crazy to me that it happens randomly. I mean just whatever to my healthcare and benefits and me caring a child?

Insane. I need answers.

Conference call from HMWD:

  1. Pharmacies are losing 10-20 hrs for pharmacist and techs

  2. Even if you are a high script score outpacing company plan profit, you are still affected

  3. Staff pharmacist that not displaced are offered lower base salary hours and have to float for more

  4. Lunch breaks 1:30pm-2pm are going to be implemented at ALL stores except 1% of stores for various reasons.

  5. HMWD, PCSM, RXM, staff RPH and techs are all affected by displacement. No one was safe.

Vegas fired 2 rph for now, some rph hrs cut, some techs also. Dont matter if you are their best worker, if you make more than the newbie then yur gone. Hire newbie at 10 to 15 less per hr, score more money saved, more bonus for big wigs.
