Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

State Farm and Long Term Disability Insurance - BUYER BEWARE!

I purchased Long Term Disability Insurance with CIGNA (LINA) for about 25 years prior to making a claim. The insurance was offered through my employer State Farm. CIGNA covered 2 years of my disability (after the 6 month wait), however now they are performing a two year review for any occupation. An IME (Independent Medical Exam) has been scheduled by CIGNA for me, even though Social Security approved my claim on the first review.

My medical records/history is very extensive, covering multiple surgeries and procedures in an attempt to try and make my conditions manageable; however they just keep getting worse. The pain is excruciating, it affects my sleeping, moods, mobility, relationships, everything in my life. It started out with Endometriosis in my mid early to mid-twenties, which ended up in a total Hysterectomy.

The Endometriosis developed into Fibromyalgia, which then also was complicated my Diffuse Small Fiber Neuropathy (diagnosed as a result of a Skin Punch Biopsy). This affects my bladder, causing incontinence which is unable to be helped by Rx medications as I am beyond that point. I can wear heavy adult protection, with a heavy pad, all meant for adults with Incontinence, but when stressed it has gone through all my protection, soaking my blue jeans, causing me to have to put a towel on my car seat to drive home. I have Mental and Cognitive issues, which are in large due to my Physical Conditions which are all predicted to stay the same or get worse. There is NO prognosis for the medical conditions to ever get better, and or improve.

From the voluminous amount of complaints by claimants about CIGNA on the Internet, I fully expect them to deny my claim as this is standard procedure for the company so their CEO, and VP's can make all the money they do being overpaid for denying valid claims as indicated by past State Insurance Department investigations, fines, rulings.

I have a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care Physician, Rheumatologist, and Neuropsychologist who all support my disability and have written letters explaining the same along with what they are basing it on. I also have an Urologist who can support my Bladder/Incontinence issues, along with a prior Pain Management Doctor who after several procedures said there was nothing else he could do for me, as everything he could try was exhausted. I also provided a complete record from my prior Rheumatologist who I went to for years prior to my new one.

CIGNA (LINA) has immense amount of test results, history of countless failed procedures performed in an attempt to alleviate my pain and urinary issues with no success, record of past missed work, and medical history which all backs my claim as being legitimate. *It is amazing just how many times CIGNA claims to not have received documentation even though the medical provider or us have included the Incident Number with a cover sheet, and every other place we are sending that information has received it. Also how many times the Medical Examiners reviewing the documentation for CIGNA take only certain words or sentences from a claimants Medical Providers to bolster their case, IE CIGNA Cherry Picks what they want to use, and disregards what does not support CIGNA’s case.

For those suffering or those family members and friends going through this: I strongly encourage using this website as a means to voice your issues/concerns, along with writing your State Insurance Department and the Insurance Department for whatever state your disability policy was written in. Also writing the State Insurance Departments that previously investigated and fined CIGNA in the past Connecticut, California, Massachusetts, Maine, and Pennsylvania, as a means of letting those agencies know even though they cannot address your claim (if the policy and or state you live in is not in their jurisdiction) that things have not changed with CIGNA, so hopefully the States reinvestigate CIGNA and fine them again.

Your State Legislature, Local Official’s, News Agencies such as Daily Mail, CBS, NBC, ABC, ETC. are all worth writing, along with Social Media and CIGNA’s Executives (once you have your handling Reps Email Address then you should be able to figure out the Executive Email Addresses by using the same format). The more people that fight this Mega Company the more chance they will be held responsible for their crimes of greed, dishonesty, and Bad Faith Claims Handling all for The Powerful Almighty Dollar. CIGNA has a massive amount of Lawyers and Lobbyist to make sure the deck is stacked in their favor, so only through a mass effort can we hope to change Corporate America.

The insurance companies own the politicians. So the people that state if its a valid claim it will be eventually paid, not so fast.

The last two comments must either be from State Farm Mgmt or CIGNA. Either way pathetic Squirrel d---s!

Obviously if working in claims they must be from the slackers who are browsing the net each day.

CIGNA please trace these two a--holes!

WOW, what a couple of totally pathetic “Please feel sorry for me” losers these original posters are, going back and liking their own posts 100s of times. I have worked with toxic people like these, we still tell stories of them over drinks long after they have left to go make other people miserable somewhere else. I bet he husband fantasizes about smothering her in her sleep with a pillow.

If these people have the energy and motivation to spend countless hours on here stirring up c-ap they are certainly able to sit back at their desk and work. CIGNA, please search your data base for disabled State Farm employees with a matching health profile and disqualify these scammers from their obvious abuse of the disability benefit, should not take very long to identify these dirt bags.

After searching "Cigna LTD complaints" on Google and seeing just how many have issues with Cigna, I know people need to band together to get this BS changed. For now try looking for other LTD insurance carriers if your employer offers this c-appy disability carrier.

Where are the Cigna Trolls? Send in the Clowns!

The only reason they (Cigna) get away with this is because the ugly truth is hidden. Most people are just too sick to complain and do not have the energy to do so.

Let's show our support for what people are going through, by sending this link to everyone that may get LTD insurance with Cigna. Maybe if the Premiums they take in each month go down it will in the long run hurt their bottom line. Greedy Pigs!

As for the Trolls, ignore them, they are from Russia, Cigna, or maybe Tippy has his GFE responding for him.

$250 a month @ 12 months = $3000 yearly (Non Taxable) as we paid the premiums with after tax dollars x 10 years = $30,000 NON TAXABLE SMART A--!

Hey you little demeaning PRINCESS - Look up Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR) & (ARMD) Macular Degeneration if your little pea brain can manage. The CSR is from a Type A Personality and large part to working in a stressful C-ap HOLE! Try getting injections in your eyes to get the leaking to stop, because if they cannot stop the leaking you go BLIND!

So PRINCESS, when you try walking in my foot steps, I will try wearing your LITTLE PINK DRESS. SO TUCK IT BACKWARD UNTIL THEN.

SEE YOU IN YOUR SLEEP. TA TA FOR NOW PIN HEAD!

I’ve never heard of disability insurance that DOESN’T have the any occ provision. The fact that you’ve been approved for SSDI should work in your favor. I wish you well & hope you’ll update us on their determination.

Suffice it to say I had years of documentation. I s---ed it up and never said a word to SF. When it became unbearable, I put in a claim with Cigna. I was given 30 days and that was it. Their reasoning was basically if I could drive, I could work. Absolutely worthless. I could write pages about my conditions and documentation, but it doesn’t really matter. Cigna and SF were horribly unsupportive. Luckily for me I was offered severance and retired early.

You write a book and speculate what COULD happen to you? If u are as I’ll as you say..... Cigna will realize it. If your illness and injuries are fraudulent- like So many claims are, i’m Glad Cigna is doing this. I am tired of my taxes, insurance premiums, going to people who are faking it, or don’t pull their weight - they expect handouts. Your issues should horrible so for you - I expect your coverage wool continue. Be happy State Farm offered - and subsidized your premiums!!!!

This is Sweetheart - Husband to this particular topic. I was a sweetheart. 99.25% phone accuracy, Muni authority and trainer for same. Also constantly updated QuickFind for years for the companies master database. Knew things about ECS that the temporary acting section manager did not know herself. Also was known for speeding up many of my coworkers computers.

I can also tell you I was told things, such as one of my managers saying, "As my supervisor told me, do not take your work so seriously (meaning don't worry, just speed it up) , that 80% of the work could be done by a MONKEY", or another manager stating "Don't worry about quality, it all comes out in wash (try telling that to the customer who's claim has tons of screw ups), or State Farm wasting their money having health fairs where they were giving out condoms and lubrication, or the Good Neighbor Fairs where they made fun of the competition (low class) like dressing up as the Gecko for a dunking booth.

This is my final writing. Make your own determination what is the truth.

Thank you to everyone who has read this topic. We wish you the best and good luck. There are much better places to work.

Maybe the last response was from .... CIGNA?

We have already dealt with CIGNA in the past for my husband's claim. We know CIGNA's way of handling claims. Also for my claim we have been dealing with CIGNA for 2 1/2 years. CIGNA likes to repeatedly ask the medical providers for the same information tons of times, then when the provider sends the requested supports, CIGNA likes to cherry pick, and LIE about what the provider has said. We have seen this first hand.

Why should State Farm bear any of the BURDEN? Because they treat their employees like C-ap, they chew them up and spit them out. Why bother offering LTD insurance that people find almost impossible to use, because CIGNA saves State Farm money and State Farm makes sure the employees whom decide they want to pay for LTD Premiums, that the money will go to CIGNA.

State Farm did NOT offer a choice of LTD carriers.

Oh and BTW - as one manager said at State Farm, we will keep pushing you until you think you cannot take anymore, and then we will push you some more.

If there was money to be made in a class action some attorney would’ve picked it up by now. Not sure how State Farm is liable here? Aren’t you kind of making a big deal out of nothing until they actually decline To re-certify you?

Not treated decently while at the end of my 25+ year career at State Farm. Also, don't forget CIGNA, as State Farm knew about their reputation, that is why they use CIGNA.

The reason for posting this on the layoff site, is to spread the word as other people may in the future experience the same problems. When I took out the coverage 27 + years ago (ballpark for time), I never thought I would ever actually need the coverage or get bad enough to need it.

Many of the employees who have medical issues and need to go out of work either temporarily or permanently will most likely have the same issues I have experienced.

The best thing to due is while working at State Farm, save as much money as possible, use the 401k to it's fullest, as many employees that my husband and I spoke to were NOT taking advantage of the saving plan. It is free money if you plan accordingly and can add up over the years.

Also, maybe a CLASS ACTION ATTORNEY will get wind of this and go after State Farm and CIGNA.

(my husband typed this for me)
