This "kid" your refer to is an industry veteran with 20+ years in the semi industry with several small to large companies. I already told you that I left on my own. I did a dime in 2018 at Fab8 (left end of Oct) and knew I wouldn't get whatever bonus was coming and of course would not be eligible for any 2018 bonus at my new company. That was my choice and part of whatever equation went into the decision to switch jobs. I check this board out because I still have a lot of friends at Fab8 and I actually wish for GF to succeed. I now work for a fabless company (in a much warmer climate) and the industry needs GF in the game to keep costs down and innovation going. Look at how TSMC just lost $1.5B worth of wafers (that's like 3/4 of GF annual) because of a bad batch of resist.... resting on their laurels (or maybe something else.) My new company is analog and doesn't play in the FinFET space (yet) but I see the foundry dynamics in pricing and the fewer players in your space, the more costly the wafers. Look at the airline industry. Yeah, USAir s---ed, but can anyone argue that since they got acquired that airline travel is BETTER?

You seem like the guy that dumps a girl and then hangs around and rags on anyone she goes out with after you left. Why do you find it necessary to come on to this board and insult not only on the management but the people who work their a** off at Fab8? Please don't tell me it's a total disaster there when they are putting out the volume of wafers with the yields they are attaining and AMDs recent highly-vaunted success is completely dependent on Fab8's output (yes, I know that is changing as they move to 7nm, I am not stupid). It's not a great place to be but there are many worse companies out there.

What makes you think that “A company this large would not be that irresponsible and sell a fab this soon after announcing that”? The same leaders stated publicly in June 2018 that “ 7nm is on track for High-volume manufacturing in the 2nd half of 2018” and that “ Capacity Expansion May Be Needed to meet 7nm node demand” (link below).

The very same leaders spent the rest of 2018 year telling the opposite story explaining the Pivot by the lack of the 7nm customer demand.

The very same SLT then rewarded themselves with fat bonus. Could they care less about collateral damage to the company value as long as aren't kept accountable for their failures?

It's all in public domain:

This kid cracks me up. Only at GF can the managers brainwash employees into cheerleading a bonus payout 30% below plan. Probably excited about the ipo as well lol ! Fools like this keep thelayoff entertaining

I guess you just finished your taxes and are now REALLY regretting missing out on that bonus this year since you decided to leave too soon. LOL.

This company has created a vacuum of talent that has come and gone period. The door continues to swing constantly. All I hear like every week is something new this person left that person left..... constantly. The reputation in Malta is so bad people are just quitting. Is the grass greener on the other side ? Well it seems it is because people dont want to work in an enviroment such as malta where nobody seems to care at all. The gritting feeling of stagnation fills the room so much that even new hires arent going to hang around the negativity is in the air the lack of structure is in the air. So whos left to eat that big fat turd the poor fools that stay because they live in a small box and stay out of desperation and fear or their world changing. Thats right Malta has created bad attitudes in their workers so much to the point that they're waiting for the next shoe to drop. When people are waiting for the bad news constantly it creates a wave in the company like a virus and its super contagious. Trust you would do well to leave now or just sit in the hole and die slowly.

I believe prior post meant ons - not osn. Because it's ON in F10.

Well that clears things up. Looks like another disgruntled former employee is bluffing again. GF just recently issued a press release where they reaffirmed they were not selling any more fabs. A company this large would not be that irresponsible and sell a fab this soon after announcing that. Maybe later in the year, it could be possible.
