Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Are they only targeting support staff?

I see this talk about layoffs but at my location nothing is happening. Not even a hint of layoffs, business as usual. I’ve noticed that people are mentioning that the support staff is targeted the most. Is that true, or is it a coincidence that people from those positions are posting the most?

Our CTS just lost a department manager (overnights). I won't provide the store number at this time as the entire shift hasn't learned of this through official channels just yet. We're understaffed as it is and now... It may be just support staff at other concepts, but at CTS they are removing parts of our backbone.

Restructure time guys!

For all the people that wanted some of your “desk jockeys” gone and thought support staff was useless ... your wish was granted!

For all those hard working Support managers that remain ... thank you and good luck!

And to all the stores that will no longer be able to call a support member for answers... good luck to you too!

You don’t appreciate something (or someone) until it’s gone!

Was it realignment with BBB?

Last I heard it was 100 + employees- managers plus District staff. But too small to matter.

Last time Bbb had layoffs it was on the news. I don’t see any news about this anywhere.

Some really great ASM’s and Department managers were let go today. Surprising that they got rid of these great leaders and kept others who just sit in the office all day. Big loss, don’t be surprised to see associates leave!

All department managers are being let go according to a cts DM and some assistants. At least 1 ASM and 1department manager at cts 7045. This is across the board supposedly. It has nothing to do with skill set or contribution. Layoffs done today. It's a fact.

Maybe only 45 support with bed bath, but Christmas tree is laying off department managers and ASM today. Some support staff. ASM might be ok on bed bath side but not Christmas tree

You cannot dispute that there are too many head at the district and regional level. In my region they have left and have just not been replaced. There has been "realignment" of ASM's and the move to all store leadership expect SM to hourly. It seems pretty clear from my time with Bed Bath that the ASM' will feel it at some point. The clear path to me is to cut FT jobs as many of them have been around for 15+ yrs and are paid much more than the DS that they are now bringing in.

Store leadership is going to have to be the focus going forward as DM and RM jobs leave more with fall to us. We have to keep our heads up and do our best to protect our employees and customers. Be the change in your store, make a difference with each associate, make good decisions on merchandising and you'll keep your job.
