Pepsi's leadership can make the choices they think are correct and outsource US employees for offshore resources from India. This is their decision to make.
What is not justified is the deception. Allow me to explain.
Covert meetings with Senior Directors telling the US based employee that we cannot tell our business partners about the outsourcing. If we are asked by our business partners ,we cannot let on.
True Scenario - The outsource partner fails and we need to work though the evening and into the morning to help them fix what they are experts in but we cannot tell this to our business partners. This happened on two occasions within a month. Was there recognition for doing this? Was their senior leadership recognition of this? No and No. Was I told not to let the business partners know what the issue is? Yes. Did I feel pressured to take the heat? Yes. Was I told the new resources I spent training daily last year were of no threat to my role? Yes - I was told they were to help with low hanging fruit.
Am I employed? No Are both the Director and the Senior Director being rewarded by saving Pepsi $ and having us go against the "Truth and Candor" culture employed? Yes. If Pepsi is laying off to save $ then perhaps they should look closer at these individuals.
If Pepsi wants to outsource then do so but do so with Truth and Candor. Tell the business partners the truth. Do not ask the US people to cover their mistakes and then terminate them. They should have told the US employees who the truth.
In they were truthful then the company would still have a decent reputation. Since they chose to mislead they have lost their trust.
To my offshore friends. I wish you good luck. I also suggest you look over your own shoulders for when a less expensive option presents itself to Pepsi. The current leadership will do to you what they did to us. Again this is their choice.
