Lol, lots of Barra haters. Meanwhile GM continues to be profitable than ever and has been delivering exceptional vehicles lately. No other NA OEM at the moment is better than GM at the moment. Look how terrible Tesla is doing. Continue bashing Barra, losers!!!

Yeah switch careers and buy another degree , well said. It's Rediculous , and yes people are being pushed around by corporate that have zero accountability to the employees , oh sorry we can't manage the business properly oh and your fired go find a new career! Meanwhile the executive and manager get top pay and keep their job. Something needs to happen and soon to protect the workers.

As mentioned folks it all goes back to stock holders and their equity. You invest in a 401k, those fund managers want companies to produce, if not the company is punished hard by stock sell off. This causes quick action of employee layoffs. It happens like clockwork, Everytime!!! Employees need to fight back by striking or continue to just be laid off and move on to the next job. Or better yet go buy another degree and try a new career area, where once again you owe college loans. At some point employees need to stand their ground or this will never ever end. Everyone just runs, switches to a new job, they call it career advancement, yeah right.

I feel like the guy constantly posting (and misspelling Barra's name) is a Russian bot (or a Ford bot). Just here to bash and shape the narrative.

What seems shameful is she got the same amount of press coverage when she ended 4,000 salaried peoples careers and home finance. Then she sent the claimed savings to Brazil for them to build a set of factories that the US Workers just had stolen.

Now she is back in the news with "token" PR pieces, like 400 jobs.

She is starting to remind me of Hillary Clinton - Toxic Feminist, with only her personal agenda.

Perhaps the most perplexing of recent GM announcements.

Let's look at some statistics:

Average annual Corvette sales since 1981 (when Bowling Green started building them): 28k

Average annual sales since the C5 was introduced (let's call this "modern" Corvettes): 29k

Maximum sales (modern era): 40k

Minimum sales (modern era): 11k

This was all done with a single shift.

It seems that the demand for Corvettes is around 30k per year. It's consistent, which suggests a finite number of people with the disposable income to afford to finally buy that new Corvette they've always wanted.

Does GM think that sales are suddenly going to go through the roof with a new model being introduced? If sales DO increase, how long will they stay high? And how long before this 2nd shift is given their pink slips as a result?

Of course the media will make it a big deal. Because Barra is their media darling. This despite the fact that she recently orchestrated mass hirings that were immediately followed by mass lay offs of salary employees.
