I’m surprised that they haven’t seen already seen that this is a very dangerous road that they are taking a road that leads to nowhere. At what point will they abandon this harmful strategy of cutting the company to the bone and will it be to late, or maybe they just don’t care, given that they won’t be there to deal with the consequences?

There is ample evidence that the UP leadership simply doesn't care about the negative consequences.
The business model they are pursuing requires them to prioritize short/near term gains over practically anything else except for legal liabilities.
In other words, if they can't be sued for it (or if they can be sued for it and have a decent chance of winning), they will take any course of action that will maximize their short/near term gains.
The notion that this model could lead to ruined lives, critical safety issues, and to the decline and ultimate insolvency of the railroad, appears (to them) to be a matter of supreme indifference.

It’s not about you are me! This is nothing more then a pump and dump hedge fund and when there’s no more meat to pick off the bone they’ll move on to another bullshiiit scheme!
Hopefully they don't sell off too much right away. The time and expense to replace will be too much.
No because the people in charge will make their millions and sell their shares and move on. They’ll be in Hawaii while their kids are at Harvard “playing soccer”. The weak unions and weak politicians wouldn’t have it any other way.
They. Don’t. Care. It’ll be someone else’s problem soon enough.
Maybe they don’t care about the consequences of their actions. They will make a boat load of money and be long gone.
