It doesn’t matter if you work all day or if you sit on your a-- all day. Job cuts are based on Locomotives being placed on long storage and that’s it. They will cut the hard worker in a heart beat, no questions ask. It’s only business, so take your time to do the job and don’t kill yourselves. Work safe!

We are all at fault here including smith and the higher ups. Just a week ago smith asked a machinist why he wasn't working and it was said that the pits where loaded to late in the day. Here it is 1255 pm we get off at 3pm and you say the pit is loaded to late. Smith should of sent that guy packing to the house no questions asked but instead we lost a job and more machinist was sent home. Instead of dealing with the problems the management just goes around it. In order to make people get off their a-- and work management needs to start send folks to the house. We are paid good money to do a job not sit on our butts and play games or watch tv in the locker rooms. This is literally a day care not a place of employment. If this was my buisness I'd done fired 97 percent of the work force. Thats all the union is good for to protect the lazy a--.

I've read where a person said Smith is behind all of this. Might be, but there we go. Blaming the company for everything. I'm sorry to say that we don't have men here. We have children. Why cant people take the blame. If your not doing something help someone. We've become soo complacent to not wanting to perform our work that we become angry when the company ask us to work. Why. It might interrupt your a-- time or playing f---ing games on your phone. It's sad to see our members not give a shot. If you hired into this place actually thinking that this company cares about you and your family. You're an id--t who needs to be b--ch slapped. No company cares about you and your f---ing ignorant if you think they do. The managers like us all have a job to do.

I have maintained, for years, UP shops could do without 25% of their workforce if they would find a way for managers to make the work ready and get workers who were willing to do their jobs. The problem is rooted in lazy workers who don’t have enough pride to earn the money they take home, unions who support lazy workers and management who can’t place units efficiently so we aren’t waiting around for a unit to work on. The biggest problem with my view of the world is the railroad is not a merit based promotion system and those like me who want to work will never make a difference or be noticed because of a seniority roster. I had endless solution center inputs which slowly died a miserable death in some computer. We tried, but were never heard.

That's the largest problem we as craftsmen have. We want to blame the company for everything that has happened. We allowed this to happen by only doing a certain amount of work and saying that's it for the day. We should condone members that go out and sign work off without even performing the task. All for what, we dont want to get dirty, rather sit back down and play on our phones, take long breaks and lunches. Is doing as little as possible worth the consequences. I'm not saying to do everything, but do your job. We all came from working on the outside and we know how to perform. Instead we will botch about the company taking our break but we wont say a f---ing word when our members dont perform there jobs ot decide to do only what they want. We dont say a word when people abuse the system, but we botch when the company does what it's doing now.

I agree but also nothing that Smith did was not without Omaha saying so. We the workers also had a big part in what has happened. We became complacent and allowed them to run over us by wanting our a-- time. This is as much our fault as its theirs.

Mark smith is behind why we have ILP, it's been a disaster since it started. If what the new COO is saying is true there will be no more Smith, Estes or Givens. That in itself will be a blessing. Those 3 have no clue how to run a shop much less a region. Karma always wins. The way they treat people is cruel. I hope they are sweating bullets every day because hatchet man is coming.

I'm not about putting times on our work, but at the same time no one put the correct time. We all thought that getting more time for a job we could pull one over them. We were wrong.

We didn't try to fix ILP. The only way was to work with management and solution center. We were all too lazy and inept. We thought we could get one over on the company.

We tried to fix ILP too. They wouldn’t listen to us then either.

Help Omaha. That's funny. We've tried to help them, but at the same time we didn't take them serious. ILP we use to change the time, we screwed ourselves.

Nobody likes working under the conditions we have now. If Omaha would just be honest, we could help them plan and make a more informed decision for our own futures. As it is we sit on pins and needles, wondering if we wait to be layed off, take the better job offer, or hope we will make it past the cuts. StUPid...

2 electricians quit because of the chaos. We basically lost 5 electricians.

Nope when they find out how many south morril guys are staying they will layoff that many more machinist. Givens has already stated he wished he knew how many are actually going to stay. This is far from over. Also been hearing if you been with railroad 10 years or lower your gone.
