Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Walmart to transition into a technology company

For those who aren't tracking on the direction the organization wants to go..

All synergies between department, functions, sectors, facilities and people that can be eliminated will be. I would expect a significant portion of the organization to be eliminated in the next 5-10 years.

This will be good for us all. Walmart is about one thing - Growth - If you're not creating growth or working to create unlocks or worse yet do not see yourself in a new type structure you're probably on borrowed time... just my take from up here.

Good luck my friends

Go shop at Aldi? That's a great idea! I love Aldi, their prices are so much cheaper than Walmart it's unbelievable! Here's an idea, maybe some of those 2.1 million people could go get a better paying job at Aldi, a win for everyone 👍

Walmart is about 20 years too late to the technology party and they struggle to adapt with their handhelds, c-appy apps, and wifi that doesn't work, Now they're going to rely on sprint, verizon, and at&t because they want YOU to use YOUR tech - cellphones - for their apps. All the while 3 of the heirs sit on the top 10 billionaire list in the US because they don't like to spend their money.

@XFIV9qo-1grf You might want to shop at Aldi. Go ahead and put the other 2.1 million people out of work.

There are people at the doors af my Walmart. Can’t call them greeters because they never utter a word. They never pull out carts. They do check receipts of people leaving occasionally. I found out that they are actually just an extension (replacement?) for customer service when I returned some Christmas lights. I was forced to learn self checkout and I actually like it now. Haven’t used a Walmart cashier in over a year.

You fire the greeters and cashiers and I will not shop at Walmart. I will do all my shopping on line with someone else and go to Aldo’s for groceries.

Poor business choice Walmart!

We love the greeters. We can shop anywhere and I’m not shopping without actual people to help me.

Have you seen the 82 year old greeter at Delafield, Wisconsin??? She dresses up as Mrs. Claud and a pumpkin and an Easter Bunny. She has people coming back year after year who don’t even live in the State to see her. Look on the Facebook page. They use her for photo ops and now they are laying off all the greeters!!!!

Walmart will never be a technology company. Walmart will aggressively purchase and adapt technology to replace humans as much as possible throughout the supply chain through to delivery to the customer. Walmart will buy that technology from technology companies in order to deliver commodities as cheaply as possible. What can a stocker do that a robot can’t? How many Walmart jobs are robot proof? Computers can monitor inventory better and place orders maximize turnover. Driverless trucks will deliver it. The list goes on. It’s not Walmart. Every company will do this. I have read estimates that 800 million jobs will be displaced by automation within 10 years. 800 million. That is more than the population of the United States so obviously this is a global estimate but the majority will be in industrialized countries with strong economies that can afford it. Amazon now has brick and mortar stores with zero employees. You have a choice - complain or learn a skill.

For people upset with this post, it is a serious indicator that you're dated in your view of Walmart - Top 10 company in the world ruthlessly adapting

Like an old dog, you're gonna be taken out behind the woodshed - RIP

A significant portion of the organization being eliminated is good for all of us? Good for the waltons, maybe. but for the rest of us — no way
