Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Some of the Changes told by Mkt Mgr

The REAL DEAL

Call happened to day from Market Managers to Store Managers for Phase 1. These changes will roll out in Phases. It will be similar to the Stores meeting goals on the CAMP process.

Store Managers received an email today that outlined the impacts of Phase 1 in their store.

All changes have to do with the elimination of staffing due to changes in technology and store structure. TIME TO TRIM THE FAT!

Changes are STORE SPECIFIC! Not all stores will see all changes until their store is affected in future Phases.

Below are a few of the changes coming.

PHASE 1

Day Stocking (based on volume of your store)

Overnight Asst Managers will have to find a position within 60 days. Depending on volume one may be retained.

Overnight Support Mgrs positions will be gone.

All 3rd shift will be eliminated, CSM, Cashiers, Maintenance, and Stockers.

Positions will move to CAP 1 (4am-1pm) or absorb into the days/evenings if open positions.

Maintenance in tile floor stores will start at 4am. Cuts will be made for stores that went from tile

to concrete and also for stores with the robot floor machines.

Technology Stores

Will lose 2 dept mgrs

E-Commerce - Store specific

If store is under 900 orders/have a pick up tower/no Online Grocery they will eliminate

e-commerce GM, Pick Up will be handled by CAP 1 and Directs.

If store is over 900 orders/have a pick up tower they will reduce staffing.

OGP will still run with staff.

Jewelry ReInvention - Store specific

Stores losing all jewelry showcases, and will transition to only costume jewelry. Will lose staff and

Dept Mgr will be reclassified.

Stores keeping a limited showcase will reduce staffing.

Money Centers - Store specific

Some stores based on volume will be losing their money center. Eliminating staff in this area.

Automotive Care Center

If technicians do not have a drivers license they will have 2 weeks to obtain or be terminated.

Makes sense if you work in TLE you have a drivers license.

START MAKING YOUR PLANS FOR FUTURE PHASES!

DON'T GET CAUGHT SLEEPING!

IT WILL CONTINUE

Phase 1 got me today. Part time working 3 days a week. Next week 2 days work and following week 1 days work. I was Full-time for over 10 years and then went to part time ever since. 16 years with Walmart didn’t and doesn’t mean a thing. Loyalty at Walmart doesn’t matter and a one way street that’s not recognized by Walmart. I’ve brought my last item at Walmart never buy anything their again.

So sad that a billion dollar corporation starts paying $15.00 an hour only to cut part timers to 20 hours a week!! Seniority means nothing to these big shots..you live on 20 hours a week😡Stop advertising that Walmart Corporation is paying $15.00 or more an hour when it means less hour’s in all reality, you should be ashamed of how you do & treat your employees period! God will deal with you greedy money grubbers!!!!!!

I worked in maintenance for 12 years. My position and another maintenance was eliminated the week the autonomous scrubber arrived. Some stores in my area removed the faux wood floors in apparel and tile floors. That eliminates floor waxing crew. I quit as soon as they made me stocker. Leave before you're out of a job people.

@5whmp+XCudABz With some of the more recent changes, Walmart is moving away from offering severance packages. If you are not selected for a role, you will have so much time to find a new role within the store or another store assuming positions are available. Underperforming associates won’t have many options. This includes below standard reviews.

Any news about the overnight modular team? I know I am on the same schedule up until the 8th, but haven't heard anything else.

@XCudABz-5weyy When I worked for another store if they eliminated your position they would either offer you another position or you would take a severance package along with UE. You would be the judge of it, but if your close to retiring or just want it I would take the severance and unemployment and just take a break.

Any CSM’s that have been told their position is gone get offered a lower level position? If they make you leave Can you file for unemployment?

Announcement yesterday was all CSM are gone. They are deleting the position and they are not even allowed to step down. What a slap in the face.

GWP is rolling out now. As an ASM with 10 years of service it is a slap in the face as to how there isn't a care to the hire ups on how this will affect the business. We had to tell the associates today and watching the tears flow was not how a day should go at work. Everybody should worry because before long there won't even be a cashier in a Walmart...

Everything did not happen. It really has been all rumors. They’re hiring assistant managers at an alarming rate. They would SLOW DOWN the process if these phases were coming. These changes only affect stores 60m<... also to the asm that said he was walked out? You had a reason. They don’t just WALK YOU OUT for no apparent reason buddy. It’s sad to see all these people wanting 2.3 million people to fall in a company. Work hard and play hard.

I’ve been with Walmart for almost 19 years, I’m hurt that that my position has been eliminated, I can see the big picture that Wal-Mart wants to do, but it is what it is and I wish everyone the absolute best. Hopefully all will work out and the company will excell, will no longer be my my business, and for the poor me folk.. get over it, it’s business, what is the best for the business is what goes.. they have to do do what’s best for them just like you will do the best for you

Walnart managers are sorry asses that don't. Have etics in managing super stores. Ex...00779 in south Florida ave. Lakeland Fl.. This walmart in 2017 last inventory had lost more than $1'200.000 due to mismanagement. One of these managers, a female manager...have been abusing of the power she has. And she is promoting people to a better position only when they are having s-x with her. There are lots of complains about this manager abuse of power but nothing have been done to fix this problem. Seniority in this place is been disrespected...they are promoting newbies without having experience at work...as a result poor job performance...low productivity...more time and effort to train the newones...wrong...wrong...wrong...

This walmart. Losses money due to disgraceful management....

I work in a WalMart eCommerce warehouse. WalMart only recently got in to the eCom business, less than 5 years ago (my facility is 3 years old). They spent the last 12 to 15 years building super centers and hiring workers to man these stores, completely oblivious to the fact the shopping world was changing. Now they are trying to play catch up. Closing stores and getting rid of excess associates, moving to eCom. They are missing a HUGE opportunity with all these stores filled with product.....

Also, they recently passed out raises to all store employees so cutting the fat is the next step in that. When you hand out mass raises, you trim the fat and place more work on fewer employees. Just how it is.

The problem is WalMart is seriously mismanaged. The FC I work at is flooded with young, 20 something new managers, all hired within the last year or so. Let me say, WalMart treats older associates like Sh-- and they LOVE young, fresh employees.

Another thing with the FC is the place is flooded with Burmese over 60% of my facility is Burmese people who can not speak or read english. They also like to push out people who start rising up the pay scale. The FC im at has always had overtime - last year we had 12 total weeks of no mandatory overtime (thats 40 weeks of mandatory overtime last year). This year, I havent had a full 40 hour week since before Xmas. They send people home every day, there is absolutely no work. Yet, they brought in a group of 12 new hires last week - ALL BURMESE, every damn one of them.

This company is VERY mismanaged. They watch every penny, which I understand, but WalMart is mismanaged from the top down. They missed the eCom boat years ago. Trying to play catch up and really do not know what to do. Seems like they are tossing everything to see what sticks.

They will continue to cut the fat and close stores. A lot of it is lack of in store shoppers but also the recent raises. WalMart isnt going anywhere soon but Amazon is kicking their a-- and its starting to show. WalMart is on the ropes but will bounce back simply because they have the $$ to bounce back.

**Store Pick Up is a stupid idea. If I have to drive to the store to pick up the item, I might as well go in and get it off the shelf myself.

**Stop sending all orders to the FC's. Offer same day shipping and ship out of the stores. Close the Auto depts and use that area to pack and ship. Deliver the orders to the customers house via Uber or Lyft or have associates deliver orders.

** Stop buying up every company that has a website. Waste of money.

** Stop trying to compete with Amazon. They sell billions of items, you offer millions. Make those items count. I once stocked plastic liners that go under potted plants to catch water. These are a dollar at the store. Why are they being sold online? Why bother with an item that makes a few pennies. Use the FC space to hold items that make money.

The FC I work at brought in a former Amazon guy to run the place. He signed a two year contract but left after a year. The AGM is an id--t and we never see the new GM. Hides in his office all day. In the month since the former GM left, the place has already gone to sh--.

Going to be a sh-- ton closing and firings before WalMart figures it all out.

Well... not sure how I feel about all that's changing. I'm a PC. We went to a meeting last week concerning our positions being eliminated. We have the option to interview for the People Lead that will take it's place. Isn't that nice if them? No TC. So all we do now....We will do alone. Files will be boxed up and sent out to be scanned into a system by work day. Filling cabinets will all be removed. Everything will be on our workbench. The stress level with two in that office is unreal. I can't imagine being the only one to do the same work plus the NEW things we were told about. After 20 yrs of doing this with more and more added all the time. Not to mention all the decorating, arranging dinners, monthly associate engagement theme parties and cleaning that dang lounge everyday..... I believe this will do me in. I have a total of 29 yrs with this company. Most PC`s I know have about the same time in. The five I have spoken with have decided the same... we are out.. too much for one person. Maybe they can hire or promote someone that is willing to give it a try. I wish them luck. The company will be losing a lot of dedicated and talented people. We love what we do and taking care of our associates. I will miss that the most. So, I'll find a new position and gracefully fade away. Good luck Walmart with all these changes. I hope you know what you are doing.

All Wal-Mart is doing is pissing off customers and opening the door for unions. The ones in the home office making 6 figures a year better learn to live on a budget. They are setting up Wal-Mart to fail like so many other retailers recently. So sad.

My wife is a retired accountant from NYC, when we moved to Texas, I told her to get a job at Walmart in the produce dept to keep her sanity as well as learning about vegetables as we now have a small family farm. she has been employee of the month a few times over the 5 years that she has worked there.

Within the last month, she has told me that they have gone full Nazi in regards to even being sick or a family member dies, they get negative points against them. They are trying to make people quit before they start firing people. I told my wife, explain to your co-workers what they are doing, cutting their work force from a third to half by 2020, starting with the 3rd shift....they want to close all Walmart's at 10pm and hang in there, make them fire everyone and then go bankrupt from all of the unemployment that they will have to pay. Yet another Anti-American Slave Factory!

I have no idea who is in charge at Walmart HQ, but they do not think very good!

Our store just went through a mini remodel..got rid of jewelry dept. electronics reborn with a micro photo-lab, self check outs and a new fitting room..Heard they are getting rid of door greeters again, night CSMs, night cashiers and they have already disposed of over hafe the total cashiers in the previous month.

3rd shift will keep maintenance and mod crew. The few 3rd shift stockers we have ?????? I have survived the culling of positions twice before. Makes sense to trim AMs and SMs..we have to many.
