Heard layoff is to start next week. Meeting invites will be sent Monday morning to those impacted. People have been asked to help coordinate with the layoff and have received formal training. Level 8s and above will be hit hard. IT project managers will be eliminated or converted to scrum masters. IT testing teams will also fold. Individual contributors will be notified on the 4th and managers on the 5th. Reogs will likely happen afterwards.

I was told I was “at risk” earlier in January.

I have been told by my manager/director that GM wants all of the lay-offs done before the Earnings broadcast.

I have f---ing terrified...

Don’t wait and Don’t be afraid. Tips for sleeping at night (from those of us who have moved on):

. Update your resume now (pull your performance reviews to help remember your accomplishments past 5-10 years

. Update your LinkedIn profile. Search jobs like yours on linkedin and when you find someone’s profile similar to yours (engineering manager, buyer, hr professional, use that as a guide to enhance your resume and linkedin profile)

. Turn your LinkedIn profile notification ON to let recruiters know you are looking

. Google articles on resume format and interviewing and using LinkedIn

. Come up with your plan B (what expenses can you temporarily cut now like Starbucks, eating out, cable, etc

. Create a job posting log/notebook and log each job you post for, date, did you hear back, status.

. Use LinkedIn Jobs Search and search for keywords for your field (Ex: global purchasing buyer hr Human Resources finance account manager)

. Refine your search by distance and also number of days job’s been posted. Anything older than 30 days may have been filled or interviewees already selected. Don’t waste your time with those. I limited mine to last 7 days and got more recruiters calling me on those fresh ones.

. Don’t out price yourself from getting a call. The Big 3 pay much higher than others. Use Glassdoor to determine what similar salaries are for companies you are interested in. List that salary to at least get in the interview door. You can negotiate higher once your in. It worked for me and they offered me much higher than my minimum once they learned my experience.

. Don’t worry. The market is hot now with many jobs. Start now and don’t wait. Schedule time before and after your workday to refine your resume and post for at least 3-5 jobs per day. Take care of YOU.

. Don’t ever forget that you are smart, amazing and have a lot to offer. This too shall pass. And your next company will appreciate you so much more than this one. Then you’ll know it was meant to be.

We’ve survived and we will help you.

PS. Take all personal belongings home now just in case you get selected to leave. No one deserves to touch your stuff. You deserve better than that and you will get better at your next company. We’ve made it to the other side and we will be cheering for you. They will miss you when your gone and they find out how much work you really did. You deserve SO much better and we will be cheering for you.

Our director told us it would be done by the 15th, so that's why everyone was waiting for that date in particular as it had been floating around the offices.

Funny that everyone is waiting with baited breath. Got till the end of the month, people. This will happen. And that phony CEO will be exhilarated that she did her job.

Can confirm only 1 layoff in Austin IT so far. It was a Project Manager (level 8). This person's director told them specifically in advance. My guess is the director did it out of the kindness of their heart, but this has been the only confirmed one so far, The PM is still working here at the moment, so surely its happening next week right?

At the RenCen. Nobody in my management team has heard anything about the layoffs. We're in the business team so maybe we're not really going to be affected... No news is good news.
