Thread regarding Sears layoffs

I don't think I'll have a job tomorrow.

During a store meeting today our manager said, and I quote: Sears is already in its turnaround phase and is expected to outsell Target and walmart this christmas" everybody got quiet and I was biting my lip to keep from laughing. then tears started rolling down my face and I burst out laughing right there in front of everybody. My manager just glared at me but I have a feeling it's not over. oh well...

I am a Manager of a so called "safe store", I have many years at Sears as both an ASM and SGM. I would never let my associates believe they are safe. I have never been told to lead my associates into false hope but to wish for the best but expect the worse.

Some stories I read on here are ridiculous. What good is it to anyone to pretend that Sears isn't in trouble. We are not competing with Walmart and Target. We are simply trying to survive.

Any Managers that claim otherwise is asinine. And seriously, what will SHC do to employees for participating in this site. Your Managers are liars.

@VVhjeUp-zcq Yes, it's funny. because it's so boldly false and ridiculous that no one could POSSIBLY take a statement like that seriously from management or otherwise. Why are you foolish enough to actually go along with such a glaringly out of touch with reality statement like one that was made by this manager? This manager had a responsibility to his STAFF , and that comes before his responsibility to the company, every day- all day. This manager failed his staff by knowingly lying to them and expecting them to accept the lie as truth.

Be assured that both Target and Walmart would burst out laughing over your manager's remark as well. A laughingstock, that is what SHLD has become!

When they spew this kind of nonsense, just take a deep breath and cough. I understand that it's funny, and as about outlandish as Target and Walmart conspiring to post mean words on the interwebs. Just try to find some respite in the fact that your manager probably also knows that this sort of thing is bat guano insane as well, and let it convey the character of the person speaking this as well. They are willing to feed you this type of information with a straight face when they know it's an outright lie.
