Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Overwhelming pressure

Does anyone on this board agree that the pressure of working at PEP has become overwhelming in the last year? I’ve worked at PEP for almost 4 years as a sales representative, and don’t get me wrong, working in sales has always been tough, but in the last year, I feel like we are exposed to inhumane working conditions.

It’s been a while since me and my colleagues had a working day under 12 or 13 hours, it’s impossible to get even near to hitting our sales goals, as they are set so unrealistically high, and good luck trying to get any sick time unless you physically can’t get on your feet and go to work. While all that is happening, the management seems uninterested, and it’s like their only goal is to let you know how replaceable you are. Think that the company is so caught up into producing more profit with the same infrastructure and the same ( or even a smaller) headcount that it stopped having any perspective on the worker's position. Think I will start looking for a new job soon.

They live and die by scorecards, and do not care about employees.

Too many jobs out there to stay with one that makes you sick or miserable. I think we are all feeling the imbalance these days. PepsiCo had better wake up soon or they may find themselves irrelevant. They need to make more investments for the future rather than scrimping to capture every penny as a prisoner. But the short term quarterly focus to give EVERYTHING to the shareholder is stifling a long term vision needed to ensure future success.

It has gotten worse; if you don’t have any handcuffs (pension) i’d also recommend moving on ...
