Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Everybody should leave Windstream!

You spend most of your life working your butt off and it turns out to be for nothing. They don't give a damn about loyalty, about all you did for the company throughout the years...

No matter what, you are going to be discarded like an old shoe. Better to leave on your own terms than go through that. Trust me.

With almost 19 years in the books, it would take a lot for me to walk away. Probably better to ride this fokker into the ground than leave at this point.

There are some of us here that have been around for a long time. We are hoping that things turn around. The bigger reason we stay though is we will be walking away from decent pay, a load of time off on the books, and mostly the devil you know vs the one you don’t. Yes maybe we will be laid off in a week a month or a year, and maybe we won’t. I personally feel like why leave for free when I can take a chance and try to ride this out as long as I can with my pay and time off intact. Might be a mistake or maybe a huge win if by some miracle things do turn around. I respect anyone that left on their own and feel bad for anyone that didn’t get a choice when they left. The honest truth is some of us are still holding out hope right or wrong. Been through bad times before and surely I will go through bad times again. Just my point of view so take it as you will. Just being honest about why some of us stay still

Have new sales started to outpace disconnects? I think that has to happen to minimize layoffs.

I agree wholeheartedly, TT has no respect for anyone that did not work in public accounting. BG is a great guy, just stuck under TT. I left WIN and don’t regret a thing. I remember all those Bottom Line meetings that just turned into the TT “rub my vacations in your face” show.

This—- “I've never seen a company freeze wages and the CEO get on steam and show the trips his family has taken. “

Pretty much sums it up for me too, what an unbeleivable a-hole TT is. I double many left at this company is motivated to anything other than show up and do the bare minimum for him. Great leadership there buddy, we can add this to the list of accomplishments on your resume along with losing 3 quarters of a billion dollars in company value and eliminating any possible future the company has

I left. I've never seen a company freeze wages and the CEO get on steam and show the trips his family has taken. Windstream completely ruined the companies they bought. I've been in this industry for over 30 years. Windstream is by far the worst company I've ever seen. I worked for a good company that windsteam ruined

Not entirely true that all companies are like this. My previous company did cuts back in 2009. Before the cuts we knew the goals that they were trying to achieve. They also did several rounds of voluntary retirement as well as early retirement, then non-voluntary retirement to keep the numbers as low as possible. We knew the first round were coming 9 months prior to the exact day. We didn’t know exactly who was getting cut but we knew exactly what day those cuts were coming. On the day of the first cuts all were done privately and in person. Severance packages were very fair and the folks doing the cuts clearly hated having to do it.
