Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Walmart Changes 2019

Let's list all the changes we expect Walmart to do in 2019. This may be several things:

  • changes due to pilot programs

  • changes due to market changes

  • changes due to restructuring

  • changes due to financial reasons

  • changes due to (fill in the blanks)

I am really curious to see what people expect as it relates to 2019 and what it means for the Walmart worker (first) and everything else.

As a full discernment, I was laid off in the big purge of January 2017. It took me about 4 months to find an equivalent job, I was in IT.

After the door greeter position change, they are now requiring our HR personal to reapply for her position. They gave it a new name and now she gets to reapply because her position is being done away with. Not to mention a wage decrese. Pharmacy is falling apart and it's not safe for the patients. Everyone is so stressed and it's terrible what the pharmacy staff is being put through. It's so cruel. I had coworkers crying almost everyday from the amount of stress with the patients constantly yelling at us. We were a tough crew but it wore us down. Now they 2 employees who are trained and all newbys. It's not safe at all.

I work for walmart on the Sam's side for 8 years and I feel as if I wasted 8 years of my life with this company. They have taken everything away from their employees and don't care. They have fixed so it's hard to accumulate time and bonuses, we pay for company insurance and they don't honor doctors excuses, the new system only gives u 5 points and after that your fired. Sales floor people gets the worse wrap, team leads are a freaking joke, the sit around and do nothing but complain about a position they asked for. Manager run the floor from the office if a manager is called they take 4 ever to answer lines are horrible since they put on self-check out., hours cut, people come in making more then people already there and they still don't STAY !!! NO LOYALTY TO THE PEOPLE WITH YEARS WITH THE COMPANY. Manager do not treat employee with respect but they want respect, club manager have know idea of what they are doing... really sad

I am sure most have heard that the downsizing on employees is relentless. Much of the past 6 years has been pairing down hours and benefits. PR approach to big bonuses is just that. If you're a seasoned veteran of Walmart employee of 20+ years you did see a healthy bonus. The rest even most of the full time people are relegated to huge hourly cuts one full time associate of over 14 years was given 11 hours for weeks? Our department once boasted 10 to 14 people per shift now maybe 3 at best. Most departments have been consolidated to the point where there is no one. Naturally the customers wonder why when they say can you call someone to help me we do but know no one will show up!

Up until recently, I worked for Walmart. When I put in for a transfer to move to South Carolina, I was told everything was good to go and I had a job waiting after interviewing for it. So I get the plane ticket, pack suitcases and one of the cats, hop on a plane and head down from Alaska. I get down here and find out something went wrong with the transfer. So I start making phone calls to figure this out, and find out the regional HR manager for South Carolina had outright denied it. It was based on my most recent evaluation, which I hadn’t seen and hadn’t signed, which my boss in Alaska had been pressured to rate as low as possible. He blamed me for things that were his fault, like me not being able to stock the wraps made in the deli because he wouldn’t order enough kits for me to keep up with demand, but worded it in such a way it made him blameless. This is completely against policy and an eval is not considered valid until the Associate has seen and signed it. I am now working at an actual bakery that makes everything from scratch, making almost what I was making at Walmart with 40 hours a week guaranteed and overtime possible during busy times. The whole environment is much more relaxed and laid back, and no one has standards and expectations that are impossible to reach. My advice to everyone: get out NOW, Walmart will be folding from these changes soon.

It’s so funny Wal-Mart raise hourly pay then cut hours and jobs. Do not see that all over the news.

I had heard there would be ASM calibrations and then reductions similar to what the Co-Managers went through a year ago. February is half way over. No noticeable changes at my Super Center

Walmart is not the beginning of you, Walmart is not the End of you

Have a trade: oil Tech, nail tech, pharmacy tech, vision Tech, optician, dental assistant, administration assistant, paralegal, paralegal assistant, teacher assistant etc etc.

Certain big chain Gas Station jobs as Clerks, stocking and hourly mangers pay same or even more.

You control what makes you whole and what makes you happy.

so Wal-mart have a team of investigators that uses Cox or At&t private networks to monitor all this sites as well as social media. they do that because they dont want any trace on other systems.

they say to save company reputation no surprise that you will find any trolls here giving bad reputation to all this people that post here. so much for open door and all the integrity that the company promote but they dont come on their plan on enforce their own rules. as to get a paycheck that is true you do but also people have to tread with respect other than that why even bother they always going to to be the poor company that everyone want to destroy and we all the opportunist trying to get a buck. this people do not have principals they lei only to say money so they can live better.

Who cares if you work for them 13 years? They owe you nothing except the wages/hours or salary for said work.

It's a for profit business and if you want someone to care about you or your family go to Farmers Only dot com or Tinder..... depending on what kind of person you are or where you live.

You take job

You do work

You get check

END OF STORY whiney ass

Whatever it is Walmart is doing is bs. It’s time helping anyone. It’s lining their pockets. I am a full time associate over night and I am being cut down to 30 hours. BS how is it helping anyone. I barely make over 12.00 an hour in Harrison Arkansas and yet I am bullied into opening my days and yet I still get cut. Our store manager was too chicken to come and tell us himself because he didn’t want to answer anything Core hours my behind. This is just a hunch of hooey to basically make me hurt my family in the long run. They don’t care about families or anything like that. I have been with this company for 13 years.

Walmart have change policy on PIP, may manager presented me with a PIP today talking about conversation that never happen. I get to chose 3 option star for 45 day and go to the plan, get 45 with pay an look for a job or quit . the issue is not what I'm loosing the security of a job but to see that it don't matter what you do walmart will continue firing people with no reason. the moral on the other group of the team where people do not give a 100 % even when they say they will pay for performance they have kill Sam Walton there are not core values any more. they get in to that mode of panicking about Amazon. last meeting they say we know we cannot bit Amazon and they don't Amazon don't treat there employees that way.

Walmart could be a really neat place to work with just a few twikes. If my employees are making me money I'm going to take care of them but if a drag on my store and other employees I'm going to fire them. THEY DON'T

I like working here and would really enjoy my own store. It's a job but I know i can run a store. My goal in 2019 is to get my own store.

Finance department as being outsourced to a third-party. 500 associates do not have a job Monday morning at Walmart.

Supposedly the jobs are safe with the third-party, however the third party has plans to cut half of the 500 after 90 days.

I’m a manager at Walmart and I am over 50, in the last two years I’ve seen my peers fired and the millennial hiring way up. If your reaching 50 years of age find a different company. Walmart is not a place for the future, as I watch my Amazon stocks skyrocket.

I have been with Walmart 15 years and my position has been eliminated. I was told how that was good for the company and that change is good. It's not personal, just business.

Well it's personal to all the people that have lost their positions.

The best I can tell anyone working for Walmart or Sam’s club is to start looking for other jobs. They are overhauling their business to benefit the shareholders. They are not people oriented like they use to be. It’s all bs and you can see by the recent layoffs of the Personnel team in Sam’s club. Don’t get comfy Walmart yours is next. They want to beat Amazon so bad but are losing their talent to Amazon. Sure terminate or eliminate the people who dedicated their entire lives to their company and this is the thanks they get. Smh!! I am done with Walmart I have family and friends who gave their all and now regret it. Oh and department managers you’re next. Good luck!!

Profit sharing is now in the hands of the manager. Walmart calls it Performance Sharing, I call it BS. The managers will be squeezed to rate individuals as low as possible.

Walmart grandstanding it gave associates $1,000.00 based on the POTUS tax relief, again BS!! I received $00.00

More millennials and layoffs for 50 and above associates.

More executives bailing on current leadership. Sink or swim

Less benefits

Amazon stock will continue to rise and Walmart will remain flat

I expect them to start pulling out of high-crime and/or super poor, sparsely populated areas. Walmart seems to want to upgrade their image and let dollar stores take on the “People of Walmart” reputation.

In 2019, all patrons with a BMI over 26 will be required to use electric shopping carts. The lawyers will enforce this policy to reduce potential liability.
