Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

District and Regionals

Why is everyone so hardened towards their district and regional staff? Are other districts and regions THAT bad or is there just a lot of bitterness and resentment on here? What has this DP guy personally done to anyone? All the talk and complaints but no substance as to anything they’ve done or haven’t done. Quit being so bitter over the layoffs. Life goes on.

District staff here in the Midwest are a waste of payroll except Dale. He’s helpful, organized, willing to go the extra mile. The others sit in the office and order Jimmy Johns.

DP used to frequent my store quite often because it wasn’t far off from his commute home and I can say that the man is a liability to the Company and that’s putting it lightly. As a female, I felt that he enjoyed the thrill of popping in and talking down to me, several times even making condescending comments that were way out of line that a person in his position would never normally make. I made the mistake of contacting corporate HR due to an inappropriate, racial remark he made about one of my employees and after my next performance review I was placed on a PIP. Fortunately for me, I found a new job and didn’t look back, but for you to question people’s judgement in calling out district and regional staff is wrong. If you have never experienced retaliation from your superiors for doing the right thing you should be glad. The man made my life a living hell and I had never been given a written warning or bad performance review prior to this incident. Do I believe that BBB district and regional staff is bad as a whole? Absolutely not, but I do feel as though the Company is extremely top-heavy and sometimes being given multiple directions from multiple people is counterproductive. Yes, there are some bad apples, they just need to be weeded out.

Like any other positions in the company, there are good ones and bad ones. The company on a whole is too top heavy. Too many positions and levels of positions at a district and regional level. Need to trim it up. But district staff is getting more and more stores, making their effectiveness less potent. Hopefully the CEO gets ousted soon, along with most of the dinosaur SVP and RVP's. Company needs a fresh outlook. Stop being so blindly loyal to a dying bridal business...don't get rid of it, adjust it. For the love of God change the return policy...like NOW. These hacks treating us as a long term rental need to go. They are not customers we want. And stand behind your stores when they are doing the right thing for the company...it isn't necessary to kiss every customers a-- when they are in the wrong. Bed bath is the next Kmart if it doesn't act now.

I have plenty to say about what DP has personally done to people. I have seen it and loved it with my own eyes. Terminating good people because of s-x. Without a leg to stand on. I have watched him belittle and embarrass my people. Good people. So badly that my staff drew pics of him and put them on my office. He has zero people skills or human skills to speak of.

As far as the staff goes....

I don’t know what you do for the company. But you need them ? I never did. All they did was feed me more to do on their umbrella and leave. Sit in the office and plan lunch. Never train. Never help. I’m my district my DCST and DM has a combined 9 Tbs in one year. They are a waste of space and payroll. And are nothing but a distraction to the everyday processes.

Well.....

I'd guess most people on this site HAVE been laid off, including me. While I have mostly respect towards the district manager's, my last one, B.A., SoCal, best ever, SOME of the district staff were not great.

Resenting them, who did not contribute to the store's operations, the store's, you know where the $$ is generated, while the would back stab us with "oh he/she doesn't know what he/she are doing" and other great quips like that DO cause ill will.

AND having our/my future pulled out from underneath me (in my mid 50's), so some guy at the top can get his 5-6 million$ bonus.....well I'm just petty that way.
