Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Sanjay's back?

During the 2008 subprime crash, Sanjay predicted that nothing would affect Q when in fact he was proved wrong. Sanjay has helped nurture the arrogance that became a hallmark of Q executives. This time of dominance is long gone and will never come back. Sanjay has been disposed as Motorola and GF CEO. Not impressive if you don't mind but he is in fact a GOD for the villagers.

-jbs : totally agreed with your post! Well put. Much needed in this forum. Its sad to see current Q culture from reading different post. Certain group again trying to to use the same old BS "he/she is not technical" backstabbing to gain their own agenda in this sad situation. They use this excuse to remove their opponents and move up to build their empire. This is how Q become what it is today. Great future lesson for the whole industry!

It is not ONLY the technical skills needed at Sr Management level - it's the vision and ability to rally the troops to align! It's their integritity, genuine care of the the team, and remove roadblocks for them that made the differences.

We are a lot of smart engineers digging the wrong forest year after year without true visionaryies to align troops to grow into new markets!

Maybe it's faith that the posters ID is jbs

Steve Jobs - we all miss you!

Good luck to us all.

Pure tech companies will wither away if you do not have good strategy. I see most of the posts about how folks are complaining that VPs and Principals cannot code etc. At that level you are should not code and if you do then you are no better than a lab rat. Qualcomm has been missing good strategy folks. It does not invest in good strategy people but folks with engineers who try to make strategic decision. Strategy needs a good understanding of business. If you keep doing the same sh-- as before while not able to make inroads into new markets - plain stupid. Qualcomm had all the money in the world to buy out Nvidia or and to challenge other players in new markets- instead it was dumb to think wireless is a cure all. It has missed out on the AI, block chain, etc which are new expanding markets. It has fought with mediatek in a price war with less returns. Qualcomm is just a engineering company with no strategic leadership. It should learn from Google, Intel and others..

Sanjay had the foresight to try getting ride of JT. Too bad that didn't stick. SM was a poor replacement for Sanjay and ran this company into the ground.

They called him “jar jar binks” at Motorola as he drove it into the ground. Just a skinny Murthy IMO... careful what you wish for

And if the chargers had won, how would that change the dynamics?

Sanjay built the execution machine that is current day QCT.. he Also correctly predicted the computer cell phone conergenve and positioned QCT for smart phone growth.. QC would have been toast a long time ago if bith of the above had not taken off.. IMHO PJ wrongly gets the credit for the glory years.. 2000 to 2010
