In reading all these threads, it makes me realize that we as a company deserve this. On one hand we have people screaming “sue!” And “unions!” And “call the press!”. How about you get off your a-- and add value to the company? On the other hand you have jackasses who have somehow think we can hide in our own little world, not engage the “dirty barbarians” in other parts of the world, and still be successful as a company. The reality is yeah, both types should be scared because you are who they’re targeting. Both possess some unearned feeling of entitlement that the company or the world owes you something. It doesn’t.
Here’s a hint... layoffs are slated at 10%. Take out of that number any roles that they didn’t fill anticipating this very action, and you have about a 5% layoff. It will almost certainly be accompanied by a significant reorg or realignment. That said, I’ve been through many of these, several times as an insider on the other side of the list. They arent using this as a hit list for folks they don’t like. They are primarily using it to clear out the low performers and people that don’t have any interest in adapting to 21st century realities. I seldom see even middle of the road people impacted, especially below B1. And the banded folks are held to a higher standard, expected to drive forward the company agenda not just show up. If you are not doing that as a company leader you are not performing, regardless if you agree or disagree with the path the executives have charted. So good riddance. See you Monday, feb 19. Or maybe not.
