Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

There was a better way to do this

I hate the way they let some people go, escort them out the door and don't let them even get their belongings from the desk. One guy had worked there 28 years told him they would box up his belongings for him. That seems so humiliating on top of already being laid off.

However, I seen other managers handle it in a dignified manner as possible.

I have been with a few companies, but have never seen anything like this I expect lay offs every quarter now. I feel Windstream will keep cutting until they start have extended outages, then maybe they will refill some of the critical positions. They can't seem the verify the importance now, but when Networks go so long without maintenance things will eventually happen; Generators not run, Switch Maintenance not performed,

Batteries not checked. Just a matter of time before Murphy rears it's ugly head.

Because most of WS people are just bad. Script kiddies with no technical knowledge or ability to think for themselves. Lazy internal logistics taking months to get new employees access, but if someone stands over their shoulder can happen in 5 minutes. Sales Engineers that refuse to train on a product and give away equipment (50k+) for basically free to get a sale on the companies dime. This has been a long time coming.

I guess this is all a result of the constant layoffs in an environment such as this you tend to only be left with the bottom of the barrel. It really could be so much more bur predatory execs have moved in to drain the bit of life force (money) left in the company under the ruse that they are trying to change things. There's a reason this is a common practice.

$1.75 a share and falling. Shocking.

In this situation, the only way to stick it to the man is for the good talent at windstream to polish up their resumes and leave. Go someplace where you will be treated with respect and can be proud of the company you work for. Windstream struggled over the last few years with trying to turn around morale and positive employee engagement. Everything they have done over the course of this year alone has reversed all of those gains. Does the board really think that employees who are scared that they might be losing their jobs every other month are going to put forth extra effort to make sure that the customer experience is top priority? Do they think that everyone is going to pitch in and give them 110% to make the company successful......for them?? The reality is that no one is safe. Look out for yourself. Find a stable career someplace else.

They can't cut their way to success unfortunately that's the position windstream is in. I heard on a internal call one leader stated revenue is churning over 3m a month in one segment.
