Why don't they outsource management in ISD. Do they really do much at all besides ask when things are getting done? If you work in ISD you know what I mean...

Walmart has historically put people in senior leadership roles that have absolutely no experience, or education for the jobs they are given, then wonder why they get bad results. Recall years ago when they used to play musical chairs with the executive ranks, it was crazy stuff. Some absolutely absurd decisions were being made and the vendor community was laughing all the way to the bank. The company is still trying to recover, and not just in ISD, other support areas too.
That is so true about that ISD relied on many years to have vendor support for critical functions. Whose bone head idea was that & they should've lose their jobs before anyone else
@mmk the problem is that ISD did not train and nurture internally for years probably decades. Instead they relied on vendor support for critical functions and now they realize they can't afford all these inflated vendor salaries and still no one has trained up the associates. Doug is trying to course correct by buying up startup problem is a) they don't have the specialized skills either and b) existing Jet employees will jump ship after they realize pay and benefits WMT can offer, plus it's the West Coast laid back tie dyed Californianculture to put ones own corporate ladder climbing first at expense of the employer
In theory we are in Walmart Labs fiefdoms but if you look at their jobs site you will see ZERO in Bentonville. All the ISD job postings are still posted on the plain old Walmart site. Methinks Ecommerce thinks so lowly of us in ISD that they can't even publically associate with us? We are WMT labs in name and org chart only
Where does the boss man live? California
Where is the headquarters for the current ogranization, Walmart Labs? California
I'd be afraid if your job is redundant with what's going on in California. Jeremy King is of the new guard, I'm sure he'll have no problem with disposing of the old guard in Bentonville. It's amazing to me how the execs held ISD under their thumb for years and then after missing the technology boat look just go out and buy a new organization unencumbered by Walmart's own mistakes. Their is no need to be loyal, they are not loyal to any of us.
CA is the abbreviation for California
What does CA mean?
A lot of managers did get laid off in the last round, good ones with decades of service. Being a first or second level ISD manager would be terribly hard - they get blamed for layoff decisions made by others in CA and they only get limited information from tippy top management in CA while having to be the messenger boy. At the end of the day Ecommerce seems to me elitist and has an inherent anti-Bentonville bias against ISD employees management and worker bee alike - resulting in equally s---y situation for all
