CGG Norway has announced a need to cut as many as 70 % of its workforce by the end 2017. Employees were informed of the new cuts this week.

SI Crawley has lobbied hard to have the North Sea multi-client project.
Yes, they have already closed quite a few small centres.
Crawley starts taking work from the satellites centres is consistent with what has happened to the other satellite centres. 3-6 months they close the satellite centre, after that, the joys of Crawley HR.
I also understand the work is going to Crawley.
Oslo's seismic imaging department was Ok (during the last two years) because of a big multi client processing project (North Viking Graben). They didn't do anything big or even medium size for external clients this year. Apparently the management has decided to forward most of the remaining jobs to Crawley office by the end of year. So their service in Oslo is no longer required! Why? checks and balances!
French CFDT asked the Gvt to force a major shareholder BPI to vote for the bondholder plan.
How about Brazil?
Plus Perth. Singapore is not an Oil Capital (but god for marine, e,g, vessels)
France, US and UK?
What major centres are left?
Houston definitely will be safe!!!
Rumor: 50% of CGG's seismic imaging centres is going to be closed 3-6 month from now!!!
There is also a strong rumor that Calgary's seismic imaging section is going to be closed by the end of this year.
I guess you mean: What Is Dead May Never Die?
I also guess Oslo office will be closed some time in the near future (probably not the only one?)
What is dead may never day :/
What a fool.
Jean-Georges Malcor was in Oslo this week. He literally said, we will rise again like phoenix from the ashes. Seems he is big fan of fairytale. Still stupid!
Office space cost is a joke compared to idle vessels under lease
"CGG must pay for leased unused office space the next 5-10 years in Oslo"
Indeed, f---ing A --- CGG is master of wasting money!
It is not just in Norway. Same problem in Houston as well as in Calgary. Last time I was in Calgary most of their offices were empty.
And CGG must pay for leased unused office space the next 5-10 years in Oslo
Such a waste!
Example 1: (Ex-Fugro office)

Example 2: (New CGG office)

So "senior technical supervisor" will do velocity picking soon in CGG Oslo. Such a waste!
CGG Oslo SI (processing), only?
Oslo center, Norway
40 in Norway? Or in Houston?
40 people must go! HR meeting and selection process ongoing.
I got 3 months in the UK
Correct (As far as I know employment protections or severance package in Norway is only 3 months).
Is it allowed to 'add bonus' on top of that if Chapter 11? I DO NOT THINK SO.
When?
The last layoff in Houston happened a few months ago. Is there a new one coming?
Yes,
Is there a layoff in Houston office?
I believe people in Houston also got severance packages. Not as much as in Norway though.
As far as I know employment protections or severance package in Norway is only 3 months. One month's salary per year worked at CGG is called loyalty bonus and it is not related to employment protection or any legal obligation at all.
Because employment protections in Texas are awful and in Norway they're quite good.
Why do they pay severance package to those in Norway but not for those in Houston?
Take the Layoff Package and Run!
Yup. It is true. 3 months salary according to Norwegian labor's law. Plus one month's salary per year worked at CGG as a package leave. ( ex : a person with 8 years experience at CGG will get 3+8 months salary at once.
No sh**t!! One year package!!! It doesn't make sence at all!
12-15 month package more or less at the same time as Chap 11, that sounds strange to me!!!!
Do you get a 'package'?
