We were one of the first Sears stores to go through the transformation. We are now a smaller footprint because jewelry, apparel, footwear, and electronics were eliminated. The company continues the transformation process and as they convert more stores to the transformation model they continue to either completely eliminate or severly downsize jewelry, apparel, footwear, and electronics. If any of these employees in these departments remain they are made hardlines commissioned salespeople or cashiers with no lead positions.

Out of all the the leads/coordinators I think Jewelry is the one that is least needed. The girl in my store not long ago became a jewelry coordinator and 3 or 4 months later they fire the footwear and softline lead. The real kicker here is the footwear lead was making minimum wage (ya a lead with responsibilities and pressure getting paid minimum wage). The jewelry coordinator wants the title, but doesnt want to do the work. Now that they are down 2 leads they only have 2 for closing and makes it extremely hard to handle the situation and the coordinator from jewelry does not want that responsibility, but sure does love the title and being able to do her schedules and have full-time and for the first time ever actually having a raise (never heard of it in all the years I worked their this was the first).
Now don't know what this thread is all about exactly are they going to fire coordinators/leads? I am very curious what else is their to cut in my store.
We have a full time 30 jewelry lead who milks the system without shame. It's not even close to a 30 hour a week job in my store but she regularly goes into overtime. The worst is how many code 1s have to be called for fine jewelry when she's on because she doesn't stay in the area. I wouldn't be sad if she got laid off. The 3 jewelry associates could continue to do her job. Yes, I said 3. Good luck finding a regular softlines cashier though.
Just asking I haven't heard anything but I like keeping my ears open.

why would you worry about that, i dream of it
It's sad that every day you go in there ,you have to worry are they letting me go today... so tell me how can you be Postive?? But still I love my job and have been doing it for 20+ years and I will still put my customers first !!!!!!
The one at my store was layed off like 4 months ago we have no jewelry lead who ever is in softlines take care of the customers
The Jewelry Dept, has leads and coordinator or some places, fine jewelry lead and cashier lead combine. The manager over Fine Jewelry is the Softlines ASM.
Is the jewelry lead getting laid off? I heard that awhile ago but she's still around.
What news was expected???
