Windstream doesn't care if we have to work harder. They can go out on their yachts and to heck with the rest of us. It's sad how many people they are letting go. I believe it has to do with the EarthLink merger. I've heard they kept all those employees. If that is the case they could've been training those employees for our jobs. Nobody is safe even departments that got hit last week. I am very on edge.
@JRHRREP, you're saying 350 more casualties this Thursday, followed by another 700 next Thursday?

Last week seemed to be targeted at lower management. Any insight into the departments or locations for the next 2 rounds?

25 VP's? LOL, try over 150 VP's!! Mr. Ford is probably rolling in his grave knowing what these executive clowns are doing to this company. We never had these issues with Alltel.
I wish they had a day where we could fill a sock with bars of soap and beat the piss out of Tony. Would help his character a little if you ask me.

Can't agree more!! Tony Baloney was on vacation last year while the stock tanked. This guy has no CLUE. He's in it for the paycheck only. Heads need to roll in the C-Suite. Blind leading the blind!
Our company has to be on the verge of bankruptcy. They did not even let the managers decide who would be layed off. I assume HR came up with that. What a cold and heartless thing. This proves that Windstream does not care one bit about its people at all. I underatand that layoffs are necessary at times, but the way they did it this time was ludicrous.

To the SRHRREP, will they hit the same localized groups in the next two phases? I dont think our group can handle more losses.
We will have 3 phases between today 7/27 and 8/10. Today we reduced a little over 300. Phase 2 will bring the same. Phase 3 on 8/10. Total 1200-1400 which is about 10% of the workforce..
No cuts where I am at on the OPS side of the house. We are working mandatory OT and run out of work by noon ! Great management of resources here ! LAUGHING TO THE BANK !

Entire workforce has been aimlessly attempting to provide service to customers without any E support or direction for a year since last RE-ORG..... Obvious answer.... OFF WITH MORE HEADS !

So sorry about your husband. Mine was laid off at another company a few years ago. It was very hard to watch. You feel so helpless.

When Windstream is bought out the e-level people won't really care because they will get a nice fat exit package.
350 were let go today but we were told by a director there aren't going to be anymore the next few weeks. Where did you hear there would be another 1,000 jobs let go in the next few weeks?

Because of my position in the company, I had affected people calling me for a job. I hated to have to tell them, I was one of them too and couldn't help.
LOL if you think Gardner was great, you're part of the problem. His only goal was to bleed the company dry and let the network stagnate. While I'm not a fan of the company getting top-heavy again, they're doing an ok job cleaning up Gardner's mess.

Happening tomorrow. Many affected groups. Big numbers. Trying to make their annual guidance - but workforce so lean already.
I had heard it was mainly the Earthlink people but sounding much larger than that.
Not a rumor. It is happening. Massive layoff. Heard it through the grapevine that it is coming in 3 phases and totaling 1400 people when it is all done. Heard it was a 10% reduction in force.
