Thread regarding Wal-Mart Stores Inc. layoffs

co manager layoffs

So you're aware, FY18 Store Management Structure calls for the reduction from 4 co managers to 2 for all stores under $85 million. Stores over that will keep their 4. ASMs for the same volume will be reduced from 9 to 8. Right now the document is confidential but it will be announced at YBM. I actually saw the document. It's real. If they layoff it'll be in the thousands!

Not rumors, it has been done throughout Missouri. There are good Co-Managers that were told they no longer have a position in their region. Have heard it is the ones that have been Co's for a while. Heard politics, If the market manager didn't like you it didn't matter if you were the right candidate or not. They submitted you were weak and regional selected. I know there was a Co that was selected for special projects with in market by previous Market manager and then a new market manager came. Only knew them a few months and didn't like him, he was one to go. How wrong. Shame WalMart. You are getting rid of our good management team and expecting us teach the liked but weaker ones kept. Not happening. This company i making the wrong decisions and are doomed for failure.

Co-Managers, I say UNITE and FIGHT BACK. Make them pay for wrongful termination and age discrimination

In our market they pulled us in one t a time and eliminated us. Some given a severance (slap in the face) offer. Heard all were put in classification of colors. Green /stay, Yellow / can opt into assistant or take severance. red / term. I have not heard of any reds. When asked how the decision was made they would not say. I know I was a long term Co. I was told that a Market Manager had made a mistake and told two Co's that they were safe that the ones to go will be the longer term co's . What the market manager didn't know is that one of the Co's were a long term Co.

I heard that WM got rid of some Co's that were chose for special projects, left in charge of stores during store managers vacations and days off.

Wal-Mart is asking for a multi action law suit , keep your ears open and jump on board

Our market in Michigan, it looks as though the layoffs are total politics and not just a removal of the Co manager position. Does any one else see the trend that they only got rid of more senior Co Mangers, and kept the recently promoted ones? In our market, they kept minorities (women, African Americans, G--’s and transgender) and let go of white men.....Also, recently they added Fresh Grocery position and all of those positions were filled with Women. I know a few years back, there was a big class action lawsuit because there was not enough women in management roles. But I feel it’s not fair to just go out and start laying off your men! I’m a firm supporter of equality in the work place. Therefore, I feel as though promotions, and layoffs should not be chosen based on s-x, color, or age.....I’m in my 30’s I’ve been with the company for 15 years and worked my way up to the Co Manager position, it’s just very upsetting.

Co-managers are needed this is Walmart’s way of being dirty and at the same time being gold in the consumers mind. The meeting for co managers is in Delaware next Tuesday for my region😡

This is NOT rumor. The store I work at had 4 Co managers. They each went to a local hotel on Friday 1-26-18 for their "meeting" each at different times. The first Co ( and longest tenured) to go to the meeting never has came back. Of the other 3, only 1 is staying at our store. The other 2 (newest Co's) were given other offers. Our store manager was out all last week on leave, and is still out this week as well.

So to those not believing the post (or "forewarning") from a year ago; think again!

This is happening people....and it is real!

The catcher is if you choose to apply for an regional Rec the region can put you with in a 50 mile radius. Once you are given a place to go and decide you don’t want that position at that store you will not be eligible for severance. If region puts you in a position outside of 50 miles you can decline and still be eligible for severance. They failed to tell us this information in the room. This is pretty important to know before opting into recs.

The majority of all my co Partners have had the same fate. It's a bit shocking to be with the company for 19 years and have the highest evaluation ratings and asked abruptly in an 11 minute conversation to turn in my keys my walkie and my vest. Yes I still have an opportunity to find another position and I'm still receiving pay but not allowed to continue to work? Making me feel as if I've done something wrong and the store would like to celebrate on Tuesday when more information can be released. Unfortunately I found more information out on the internet than what the company is releasing. Very dirty! And I fear More's to come

so east coast here..apparently I am a yellow. that means im in current role until February 2. Then i have February 3-March 27 to post for a position. If I am not chosen for a role by March 30, that will be my last paid day. I will be on a full paid with benefit leave from February 3-March 30. If I do not receive an offer prior to 3/30, I will then be terminated with severance of 2 weeks for every full year worked along with 1 week for every 20K increment. OOps forgot you have until 10 am on Monday 1.29 to post for the open regional assistant reqs that are open. You do not have to post for that though.

Work week 1 to ensure bonus. Then every one that wants to continue with company can apply for the open ASM spots. No guarantee that you will even get an interview and if selected they pick your store.

We get 60 days of pay and benefits and then can take severance package.

Can not go to hourly unless MHRM and MM approve.

My meeting lasted 10 min.

Real deal. Announced today. Bye Bye store manager babysitters! I've said for years what a waste of payroll. 80,000 a year to walk behind the store manager and cover his a--! Now they need to start rotating them around! I bet asm gets another raise and most will AGAIN be left out. There are several associates who were "voided" for an appropriate raise the last round, and they've been with company very long time. New hires in certain positions start 30 cents under what long term employees already make. TOTAL BS.

If a store has 4 co managers and the last two are the ones who would need to find other positions, but one other co wants to leave also could they take the place of one of the last in?

i heard in some markets they will reduce co manager headcounts through attrition. At some point I'm sure they'll get rid of them though.

What do you mean by th Are the Cos being moved to other positions, or are they losing their jobs? Also, what do you mean by they don't keep their pay? Are other jobs being eliminated, or just the Cos?
