I was laid off in 2015.
i received a 2016 w-2 from wfm saying i was paid 2 and some change in "tips and other wages". I received no such compensation in 2016 at all.
anyone else laid off in 2015 get this???

This same exact thing happened to me. I contacted my former PBS and she's looking into it.
my bank has already confirmed no such deposit was ever made. so stfu.
OMG! Forget the IRS Call the white house! Sounds like a HUUUGGGGEEE scam.
Or its a small payout they owed you that was deposited in your account and you didn't notice.

Go to your local IRS office. Take all records, paper work , etc. that you have and show it to them. Let them help you.
