Qualcomm offers two variants of its slim modem (read standalone without application processor). The x7 is a 300Mbps aging data shifter whilst the x12 is a 600Mbps monster. Intel's xmm7360 sits right in the middle. So what will Apple do? Throttle Qualcomm's modem or have every review site comment there are two iPhones: the superior Qualcomm one is 33% faster! So far Intel has seen mostly positive press from the early rumors about winning Apple socket, now time to pay the piper will their design on the older TSMC process be competitive against the vendors on more advance nodes. Will soon go from positive press to big egg on BK's face

Android competitors will get the full throttle modem and will look better vs Apple if they do decide to do that.
