What about CPL reorganization? Anyone have information on this? All we've heard is that we're going to have to apply for the jobs we are currently doing.. which makes no sense!!

Vna- agree. My XOM friends tell me that only bottom 10% is worried. Every one else is safe and working hard. Also, my XOM friends tell me that XOM cuts across all job classifications so low performing executives are also at risk. XOM has already forced retirements of low performing executives. Far better system because only low performers are worried. High performers are actually looking forward to more responsibility and greater span of control. Fewer worried and more are inspired. XOM will outperform.
CVX process is stupid. It lowers the corporate IQ. XOM cuts only low performers and corporate IQ goes up. XOM assumes good people can learn new jobs so when openings occur after low performers are cut, these are development opportunities for the remaining high performers. Total does the same. The best companies coming out of this downturn will be XOM and Total, the only companies not doing mass layoff.
No, this is not the real world. Real companies will can those that are not providing value and retain those that are. Other companies don't go through the stupid process of applying for your own job.
Welcome to the real world....
