I am very disappointed and disgusted on how my fallen co workers got threated. Can I resign and get the severance package when I didn't get cut?

With that attitude you'll just end up getting yourself fired and get nothing. Good riddance.
We can still receive unemployment even with severance?
Probably not. But damn if you could.
It makes me wonder if theyll just normal fire people next week and they wont get severence?
Watch your back, thats a tricky situation to negotiate, if at all.
Side note in TX:
However, if they were not fired or quit, being laid off in this manner still allows you to get unemployment benefits, even with severence. The legal documents state wfm will not deny unemployment claims either.
